The Oakland Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in Oakland Charter Township

Came here last week for dinner and really enjoyed it, except for the fries they were hard and over cooked. They had one of the best wiled mushroom bisque soup. So the following week, I brought my wife here to enjoy a nice meal and the atmosphere... but I was disappointed 😞 the soup was still great, this time the sandwich was not so fresh but edible, and we ordered a Cesar salad to share, for $13 I expect a fresh crispy lettuce not wilted soggy lettuce, we only had couple bits of it, (now my wife loves salads) so I mentioned it to the server and he said "I'll let the kitchen know" so again I expected a fresh replacement or at least an apology! Unfortunately, they never did, and we still got charged for it even though we didn't eat it. 😕 Consistency and courtesy go a long way! I hope this review helps you...

This strip mall hot spot should be in a better location, though the atmosphere is still nice inside. Overall the experience was nice, but a few things I would not recommend. The sharable whipped potatoes seemed to be instant from a box and not good. The carrot cake, the waiter said is not made in house, it was dry and the icing was hard. However I did like the spices that were in it. One thing I did enjoy was the grilled chicken entrée. It was grilled just right served with roasted peppers and asparagus covered in a polenta type gravy. The place is decorated beautifully, but I would recommend taking down the curtain at the entrance so everyone who enters can see the ambiance and not feel like they are...

Lots of indications this would be a high-end steakhouse, including the menu and prices. Very pleased with the service and ambiance, much nicer than you’d expect for being in a strip center. Appetizers were good, but entrees were overcooked and simply below par. This area is in need of more high-quality restaurants. Linos North and Asian Kitchen in the same strip center are notably good quality given their price range. I’m hopeful they will figure out the food quality to match their prices. As of now, I get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse for half the price. I’d expect something on the lines of Perry’s or Morton’s and I hope they can eventually...
