Make way for "serious pasta eaters" as my hubby correctly put it ;)
This pasta shop is super small and cute with eat in and take out options! There's a variety of different house-made pastas you can order to go (or get it delivered) along with their house-made sauces too :)
Great place for solo eaters or couples as seating is limited - no good for large groups. No sit down tables but more of wall mounted shelves with high chairs kinda scene accommodating a total of 10 people.
You order at the counter and prepay for the meal which comes very quickly. Between the two of us we shared:
Lasagne Bolognese $16.75 Tagliatelle Wild Boar Sugo $16.75 Tiramisu $5
Both lasagne and tagliatelle dishes were amazing. Honestly, best pasta quality we've had so far in the Bay Area. Prices are bit high for Oakland but they do match the quality of the food. Sauces were like the homemade ones - light but tasty and flavorful. You could taste the meat and the intoxicating smell of the freshly grated grana padano or pecorino. We were in pasta heaven! Tiramisu was alright, have had better.
I look forward to visiting their restaurant as well :)...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBelotti's location in Rockridge is so fantastic that, all too often, it's difficult to get in. If you just want to indulge in the food, though, you have an option: This, the Belotti pasta shop. Here, you can order many of the same pasta dishes, as well as order pasta to take home with you. Don't worry about the price or the portion size--yes, you can buy more pasta for your money elsewhere, but the versions made by Belotti are so rich, lush, and cheese-filled, I honestly don't know how anyone could be left unsatisfied. And really, if you are actually still hungry? There's tiramisu, just sitting there in the case, staring at you, absolutely daring you to buy it and eat it. One tip: considering how rich most of the pasta dishes are, I recommend ordering a tart beverage to drink with it and help cut the fat. My preference is a Lurisia chinotto, but there are a variety of citrus related beverages on hand. Oh, and make sure you get a little bread. You'll need it to wipe up the last bit of sauce from the bowl, causing the owner's nona, in whatever heaven she is now in, to smile down on you in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere's something to be said about fresh, homemade pasta. Tried the Agnolotti and Pappardelle.
The food is packaged in small fold up boxes but the pasta itself is correctly proportioned which is a huge win for me. There's just enough to satisfy your appetite and not too much to make you regret finishing it afterwards. Both are fantastic. You can really taste the pork inside the Agnolotti and the mushroom taste from the Pappardelle is other worldly. The pasta is soft and cooked just right.
The shop itself is very small and is only suitable for pick up orders at the moment. The staff is friendly.
The only issue I ran into was of my own making. After placing the order online, I neglected to note the address and ended up at their other location 5 minutes away which was unfortunate but something to keep in mind. Food was still warm despite eating it 30 minutes after it was ready for pickup which is a bonus.
Belotti makes you feel like you are swept away taking a tour in Italy and is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. Definitely...
