EDIT: Actually, it opened up almost literally the minute I posted this review. I bought myself a round, met a friendly regular, watched the A's game... really cool place. I'll have to go back! ...but not before 4pm on a Saturday... (orig. review: I gave it 4 stars so as not to change the overall rating too much... but this bar wasn't open at 4pm on Saturday April 29th, despite hours listed claiming an opening time of 2pm. Not sure what was going on. The place was highly recommended but I may never find out why... Not until I visit the Bay...

We were made to feel so welcome here on our first night in Oakland, had a great experience at this bar. The bartender and the local crowd that night were so friendly. They gave us great suggestions on things to do while in town for Halloween Meltdown. Would of never thought to take the ferry while we were here otherwise and it ended up being a favorite experience on our trip. Great dive bar atmosphere. It was cool to hear about the punk history of the place. The bartender sent us home with homemade spaghetti! We can't wait to visit...
