Holly's Mandarin — Restaurant in Oakland

Holly’s Mandarin is just taking advantage of the COVID-19 to their advantage. I have heard of take out order without giving of water upon request. I will never go there again, here after. They have loads of business due to it being Chinese food. I had a takeout order & doing my laundry next door. I was coughing from their spices and had to dig my thrown away cup from trash in order to ask them for water. Upon handing the cup to them, I said I wanted some soap on the cup for a quick rinse, as I had thrown the cup away & had to retrieve for water. The new guy agreed, but I observed him not doing it. Upon instance, the woman trainer says they will put in the dishwasher & I said I could easily wash it out & she refused. After, I had just finished eating my meal & gone back to the restaurant upon that woman telling me it would take a10 minutes wait. I was coughing as she continued to be on the telephone while no one else was in there. After she hung up her call, she tells me that they are not going to run the dishwasher. I finally told her to go to hell, whether she understood this or not is a question. They are even so cheap as to not give napkins with one!s meal, even upon request, only after insistence! They would rather have a senior choke on their meal, rather than give water since during COVID-19, they don’t have to. Then try to discuss the request for water by using lingo from Piedmont Ave to say it is tapped water. As cheap & as much a crook as ever! Without regard for humanity, just their own mighty bucks! ...

Finally we found a suitable replacement for our favorite Chinese restaurant of over 25 years. FOOD = 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sooooo good. The BBQ Wonton Soup was AMAZING but so was the Mu Shu Pork, Lemon Chicken, Mandarin Beef & BBQ Pork Chow Mein. They were out of Fried Bananas but I'm sure their awesome too! SERVICE = 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I wasn't overly impressed with service but we were fed yummy food so... CLEANLINESS = 3.5 ⭐⭐⭐ The dining area is definitely in need of a good deep cleaning. Food splatter on walls next to tables, sticky spots on the floor. Bathroom was cleanish. It could also use a deep cleaning. LOCATION = 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oakland's Piedmont Ave is a high rent local but there is a parking lot across the street and metered parking on the street. And with the VERY brisk take out business they were doing I see Holly's being around for awhile. PRICES = 4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great portion sizes for the price. Fair market value for the tasty food. TAKE OUT = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We used DoorDash for the first time and got take out the other night from Holly's for the first time. Delivery time was estimated at 75-85 mins. We worried our food would be cold. Our food was not only warmer than warm but it was as good as...

Used to get food there often until the day they treated me really bad for no reason. I was waiting for my order with a few other people and the man said to look at the Doordash table to check if my order was there, then i said i wasn’t doordash, that i called to order. Then the lady super rude said “you can go inside and check if your order is ready… go to the kitchen and ask”. I was like???? I’m literally just saying i’m not doordash. I didnt even complained my order was late because i saw they were busy. She, again, said for me to go check myself because they had a lot of orders. All the people there said she was being rude for no reason. I just walked out and said i didnt want that s*ht anymore. Their loss because it was not paid yet. 10min later she calls, i didnt pick up, and she left a voice message saying my food was ready. Completely crazy. Never going back...
