This place gives you undeniable value for the portion sizes. It also appears to be a healthy choice for meals.
Unfortunately, that's about all I can commend them for. The flavor of their sauces and entrees are just too bland and don't do justice to the meal.
We ordered a Lamb-Beef Shawarma Sandwich and a Chicken Shawarma Plate. Everything was extremely mild in flavor (with the exception of a strong lamb odor in the sandwich), the pita that came with the plate was cold and while cooked through, it tasted yeasty and almost doughy in consistency. The chicken was dry and tasteless; there was also black burnt bits among all my meat. We couldn't help but to leave our meals unfinished. The sandwich supposedly comes with pickled vegetables and salad, but we found only some tomatoes and flavorless lettuce in the wrap.
The rice in the plate was solidly normal, but ended up being best-tasting out of everything we ordered...
If you're here at all for a good time and not just a long time, I wouldn't recommend this place to you. If you have a lot of health considerations and insist on low-sodium everything in your life, the hummus here might just be your jam. All I could taste was the beany-ness of...
Read moreOasis Kitchen is a class act. They treat their loyal customers like family and offer high quality food at an affordable price, especially for the area. The manager and all the employees always take good care of me with fresh pita, just-fried falafel and french fries, hummus, baklava and dolmas. They recognize me and today they even got my order before I said a word on the phone. Sometimes they even toss in an extra thing that I did not order. There are really not enough nice things to say about Oasis, they are a fixture of the community and treat everyone with respect. When it comes to the food itself - I have not had better Mediterranean food in my life. Even the french fries beat anything you can get at a burger joint on price and quality. Granted, I am a white guy from a rural place so maybe you should take my culinary opinions with a grain of salt. Whenever any of my friends or colleagues is looking for food near the lake, I always recommend Oasis and they have always been happy with the choice. Whether you are a meat lover or a vegetarian, Oasis Kitchen will have something for you. That much I can guarantee....
Read moreI’ve been patronizing this place for years. I am very good friends with Osman, the owner of the store and restaurant. Typically I would order the chicken kabob skewer plate and the younger gentleman would add a small salad to the plate. Occasionally, I would order plate with the addition of two falafel balls. Unfortunately and shockingly, I just called-as I’ve done many times in the past- to let the staff know that I’ll be ordering the plate via Door Dash and I was told by one of the other staff members (not the younger gentleman- Palestinian gentleman who is always pleasant- that my order will only come with the kabob moving forward. I think I would have accepted that message with understanding if he told me professionally but he used a very sarcastic and rude undertone in his voice. I didn’t want to engage so I simply hung up the phone. Consequently, I will never spend my money with them again! Additionally, I will personally tell Osman why I’ve decided no longer to patronize that place. Such an...
