Update: Sweetroots offered me a complimentary blowout to make up for a not so great experience. My new stylist was Charles, and though it wasn’t quite the style I was going for, I was still really impressed with this style. My hair was soo shiny and beautiful and definitely not something I can achieve at home, and he did it very quickly too. Overall I’m very satisfied and felt amazing. That being said, I still think there is a big range in level of talent here and it’s important to choose your stylist wisely to get the best bang for your buck(the good ones can get booked weeks in advance).

Original: I went here once for an updo and another time for a blowout. My updo cost roughly $80 (not including tip) but it didn’t look close to the picture I showed, and started coming apart within a couple hours.

When I came in again for a blowout with another stylist, I asked for beach waves as it’s something I couldn’t achieve at home. She ended up just curling my hair and when I told her these aren’t beach waves she just brushed my hair out and made it poofy, still no beach waves. This review is strictly regarding make up services. I was under a time crunch so didn't have time to ask for a re-do. I was asked to show a photo of what I wanted. I asked for a brown smoky fox eye. I have a mono-lid and Asian almond shape eye. It's different to do make up on my face but not impossible to achieve this look. The person who did my eye could not do it. It was not brown. It was a smudgy black faux wing. It also was not a fox eye. The eyebrows were drawn differently per eye. Kind of a mess since the brows need to match. The finishing powder was caked on so thick that the foundation rolled up to the surface like a sweater pock marked with lint. This surface was purchased for my birthday and it definitely made my event memorable in a bad way. The artist was also not friendly and didn't come out on time without my prompting. Others seem to have better service with different people. I will not book make up...

I had the pleasure of getting my hair done by Toriano, and I can confidently say he is an amazing hairstylist. His professionalism shines through in every step of the process, and his skill is unmatched. You can tell he truly has a passion for his craft, which shows in the care and detail he puts into his work.
