Lake Merritt Boat House — Attraction in Oakland

It was a chilly afternoon, I just came from the Supreme Court in Oakland handling my business when I felt that I didn't have any intention to go home yet. I was being pulled to the center of this place. Then a cool breeze touched my face , inviting me to cross the street....And there it was, the majestic Lake Merritt. Immediately , I grabbed my camera, and I can't resist the temptation of taking pictures of the glorious blue sky, the pure white cloud clustered in different sizes and shapes, which stimulates your senses and awakened your imagination. I was lost in the beauty of God's creation, and my mind got lost, just focused on the magnificent scene in front of me. Until, I missed a step, almost tumbling down the little staircase , and I was awakened to another picture , different reality, another of God's creation....men . "Earth to Mia!" I snapped out of my daydreaming and focused on the activities under the blue sky and the dramatic exit of the sunset. Speaking of activities , Lake Merrit offers a lot of fun things to do, with friends, loved ones and family. You can go jogging, walking ,biking , canoeing or simply sit by the benches or bring a blanket or sheets spread it over the grass and have a little picture, but after eating be respectful of the place and you should clean as you go. If you want to take someone for a date, this is also a perfect place for lunch or dinner . There is a fancy restaurant at the side of the river, they offer somewhat fine dining . I saw the menu it mostly comprised of steak and crabs . They also offer some discounts and promos, which you can check out . More often than not, the restaurant also offers entertainment while you are enjoying your meaI. This will be a romantic first impression on your date. Imagine good food while being serenaded by a band or just a solo singer. Definitely ,she will go out with you again. Aside from the restaurant, which is for a little formal date . Next date , do a daytime date where you can go kayaking . And there is also a boating club there. Also, Merrit Amphitheater offers musical concierto. You can check their website for the upcoming events that you could join. I want to be real with my review. I want to give you a raw ,facts and I dont want you to be blind-sided. We are fully aware that California although it's a great beautiful city with beautiful people , has been facing issues of regarding the people who I are homeless and some who are suffering from mental health issues and addiction that's a fact. However , I am confident that the leaders here in Oakland are doing their jobs well because you can only see a handful of homeless people, just a couple of tents .That's why I assumed that our leaders here are doing their job to lessen if not to eliminate the problem. Our leaders cannot solve these situation alone , I am urging each and one of us to do our part to help improve our City. Be alert and aware of your surrounding when you are there. Respect the place by not leaving or adding trash and respect the people who are there,like you enjoying Lake Merrit. Like what an old saying goes....."if trees could talk". I'm addition if you got tired of the lake ,you just cross the street Oakland Museum is there to entertain...

Antoinette was SUCH a sweetheart. We had a (drunken) retirement party at the Boat House. She insisted on staying past when the venue closed down to make sure that I made it...
