Peet's Coffee — Restaurant in Oakland

Love this place and have been coming here for almost 7 years now. This location has always had good business in and out of the doors. Amazing staff. Always been so friendly and welcoming in the neighborhood.

Recently, I have observed a change in the closing shift at the establishment I frequent to complete my work. The new staff, while undoubtedly excellent, has been closing the store earlier than the advertised time. Specifically, decaf coffee is no longer available after 4:30-5:00 PM, and the window gates are pulled down and locked, giving the impression of closure despite the actual closing time being 6:00 PM. Additionally, the gate in front of the door has been partially lowered, causing inconvenience and potential safety hazards for customers entering and exiting the store.

On one occasion, I arrived at 5:15 PM intending to purchase a coffee but found the gates closed. Consequently, I had to verify the store's closing time online.

While I acknowledge the desire of the staff to leave work on time, I suggest that preparations for closing, such as securing windows and doors, be initiated at a later time, perhaps around 5:45 PM. This adjustment would mitigate the confusion and inconvenience experienced by customers who may mistakenly believe the store is closed. During my visits, I have observed several individuals leaving the premises due to this misconception.

Overall, my experience at this establishment has been positive, and I appreciate the excellent service provided by the staff. However, I believe that a slight modification to the closing procedures would enhance customer satisfaction and ensure a smooth transition to the store's...

Terrible management at this location now. She is very aggresive and has no known customer service skills that i am aware of. Which is sad because i used to love this store ( and work here) but whoever hired this new woman was out of their mind. My boyfriend got kicked out bc he bought a homeless man coffee on a cold morning. He then had him come inside to fix it the way he wanted. The manager came out from the back and went balistic! Screaming and yelling at the homeless man from across the store (in front of everyone during the morning rush). My boyfriend asked what was wrong? And explained he had just bought the man coffee and he was fixing it. She then directed her crazy toward him and kicked him out too. With no explanation... i worked there for 3 years (2008-2011), and would not believe it if i hadnt witnessed it myself. I will never go in that store, or purchase any Peets products again. Got here and was asked twice if I was ready to order but I clearly wasn’t because I was standing on the side of the register near entrance door. Then was told not once but twice that the store was getting ready to close. 1st in 10mins . Then reminded again that they would close in 6 mins. So much for customers are always first. They young late looked like she was past her patience point the minute I walked in. Desperately looking at the clock. Maybe because it’s friday?
