Sparky's Giant Burgers — Restaurant in Oakland

My review is solely based on service only: We've been coming here for years and have been happy until today. We ordered 3 Chocolate-Banana shakes and when the 3rd one came, it tasted pure Chocolate shake so I asked about the banana and she insisted that she put banana so I took several sips just in case I missed it and still no banana taste. I tried my son's shake and I could taste the banana. So I told her again and I said go ahead and taste it and she argued that there is banana and instead of just offering to put banana, she called another girl to explain to me that the chocolate taste is way too strong and that's why I don't taste the banana, really? And to add insult to injury, she said that I should just add banana, I guess when I get home? It doesn't matter how much the bill was but when I just spent $65.21 for burger lunch and when the shake is $6.00 each, I sure didn't expect an argument over a freaking banana that would have been only .10 cents their cost if at all. In the past, I have witnessed other customers getting upset about something with their servers but I sure didn't expect that I would be one of them. So disappointing and so...

Sparky's Burgers is a hidden gem! Very unassuming food stand across the street from a Chevron but inside there's magic happening behind the counter!

I got the cod fish "burger" with curly fries. The fish was crispy and flaky, freshly fried to perfection. The sandwich came on a whole wheat bun with homemade lemon dill tartar sauce. I'm not even a fan of tartar sauce but the stuff they put on this sandwich made me a believer! Hands down one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had! Me, being one to never finish my food, DEVOURED the whole sandwich because I just couldn't stop eating it.

Curly fries are delicious, too. The portion was great and they were perfectly seasoned. One order could comfortably feed two people.

I would highly recommend this sandwich if you go but, from what I've heard from the locals, all the food here is worth a try down to the freshly squeezed lemonade.

Packed, popular place. Very good food, although every time I go there they consistently undercook their fries. The fries are good quality, but a little limp and soggy. The rest of the items I've tried tasted great. The menu isn't creative, but they do a great job with variety. Burgers, salads, sandwiches, lots of choices.

Customers line up at a window outside to order. There is usually a long line at lunchtime, although they will get to you fast and you won't wait too terribly long.

Their staff could use some training, depending on who you get, they don't always understand their own menu... or your order. The last time I was there, a more experienced employee yelled at a newer one in a foreign language because she couldn't understand the items on the menu. They can sometimes appear too busy to deal with you and can come across as blunt.

Also, if you ask for a glass of water, you get like a baby sized cup.
