The Romo Cafe — Restaurant in Oakland

This is probably the cutest cafe in the surrounding area. It appears to be family run and while I didn’t have any food. The food looked fresh and tasty. Their menu has healthier options available, including vegan options. Unfortunately, they are charging really high prices for coffee drinks but the quality of ingredients is really poor. Since I am vegan, I had to ask them about what they used for their mocha to read the ingredients. They use Hershey’s syrup and charge over $6 for a small mocha. You can get a mocha with no artificial flavors, real cocoa, and no high fructose corn syrup, etc from a nice cafe in Piedmont for that price.

Updating my review since the owner was sarcastic in their reply. Hershey’s syrup is not a high quality ingredient. It’s fake, ultra processed nonsense. And if you’re paying the same price for a drink that you would pay in the most expensive areas of town with actual real food that’s a rip...

How lucky were my friend and I to find this cafe! It was in the stars bc we were supposed to go to a different sandwich shop, but they were closed on Mondays. I would’ve picked another place closer to my home, but thank goodness my friend googled and found this lovely place that’s full of artwork and charm.

We both had sandwiches, a chicken with black bean sauce on baguette for me, and a breakfast sandwich and chia pudding for her. All of it super delicious!

The staff was wonderful and easy going. I felt totally comfortable.

I will have to make my way back there soon and often. I cannot get that sandwich...

I live a block away from this restaurant and never knew it was open, passing by it looked dark inside (even with the flag outfront that said open). With a friend visiting from out of town searching for breakfast on Google, Google said it was open and we decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did.
