Kessel's Korner — Restaurant in Ocean City

After hearing some good things about this place my wife and I decided to give it a try. I called and placed a take out order at 12:25 pm today, a Saturday in the summer. Yes, they were busy, as would be expected. The girl repeated my whole order back to me, and I confirmed it was correct. She asked for a name, I gave it to her, and she said it would be ready in 35 to 40 minutes. 40 minutes later I was there to pick up and they couldn't find my order in their computer, and they had no idea who answered the phone! The girl was so unconcerned about the situation she almost looked bored by my plight. She mumbled an insincere apology and offered to retake my order with a wait time of another 30-40 minutes! Not even an offer to put my order at the head of the line so my wait would be perhaps only 10-15 minutes. I told her to forget it and began to walk away from the window. She she gave a shrug with a simultaneously dismissive "ok" that clearly said "I could care less" Every business has an occasional screw up, but the lack of even pretending to be sorry and no common sense customer service in offering a remedy is really astonishing. I'm sure the owners don't expect their customers to receive this kind of treatment, and the way they take phone orders has to change. Apparently any server can answer the phone, and there seemed to be about a dozen of them behind the counter. Have 1 or 2 people permitted to take phone orders. Then you would have accountability. Also, train your people in customer service skills to always attempt to make it right for the customer when...

This is our 4th year staying for the week in OCNJ. We always came here for food and ice cream but this is the first time I have ever experienced a rude employee with an attitude problem. We ordered at the window for ice cream to go and both nights this girl was RUDE. I asked what a junior sundae was and she responded with a “junior sundae”… like how many scoops, do you get a certain amount of toppings?? Don’t act like I’m an idiot because you don’t know the menu. And if you don’t know you can ask someone. I asked for a receipt and she got offended bc she said “why did I give you the wrong change?!” I’m not sure why receipts aren’t given in the first place. She said it was too late. My mom even asked for a receipt before paying and she still forgot to give her one. A little tip, don’t complain about your customers to another employee while we can see you. Clearly she did not like my questions because once we paid she closed the window and complained to her coworker. She is obviously new and messed up quite a few things for us but the fact she had an attitude on top of it ruined the experience both times. This is unlike the service we normally receive...

1st time..the best food they served us was the fries...lol.Cheesesteaks weren't cut up,seasoned and served, they looked like two flat fried steak slices laying flat on each other with melted cheese on top. Reminded me of boxed frozen steaks at supermarket. Mozzarella sticks very well done. Everything served on smaller paper plates where cheese steak barely fit on plate.My advice would be to use real plates or larger to accommodate the food..cook the steak by chopping up and serve on roll with melted cheese covering cooked and cut steak pieces . Watch that fryer with the mozzarella sticks and if you find you've overcooked them to a dark brown shell finish , chuck them out and cook 4 new ones..The service was excellent..and restaurant was very clean. The problem was, we stopped to eat. We finished the food and although I was disappointed, and felt 40.00 was overpaying for what we ordered, I was still hungry....We were looking for a new spot to eat, but I guess this won't...
