So before you look at this review and condemn this place for my rating, understand where I come from. I have been a longtime customer of whatever business is in that location, be it Longshots, Milestones... and now Breakers (different owners, I know). When Breakers 1st opened I was probably one of their first customers, and the food was amazing. I had never had a "Guiness" burger before and the idea of loaded tater tots was simple yet mind-blowing. Everyone in my family was impressed, the food was GOOD and we planned to frequent them regularly (when I'm in the area, as I'm from North Jersey). All was well, then the pandemic... It must have been real hard on them, being a bar and with such stiff competition in the area. We did go once during the lockdown while dining was open, and we gave a wide berth to the quality of the meal given the circumstances. Mind you the food was still good, but while the prices started increasing, the quality was slipping. This past Friday, my family made our monthly pilgrimage to the area for a short vacation weekend, and I had nothing but a good Guiness burger with some loaded tots on my mind. When we arrived it was apparent that for 7pm on a Friday night with a bar, the place was surprisingly empty. Our waitress was very pleasant, and we ordered some appetizers while we waited for our dinner. My son and I ordered the aforementioned burger and tots, medium rare, my wife got the Reuben. I noted that they've opened a new location "Monkfish" a few blocks down the road, and this usually either means good for both business, or its the death knell for the older one. Unfortunately after a short wait, I could tell at first glance I was going to be miffed when our food arrived. To say my burger was a disappointment would be the understatement of the year. While my wifes sandwich was OK (corned beef was fatty, but not bad), both my son and I were delivered a "well done", dry, tasteless burger. Mind you, both of us had ordered the same "medium rare" and it wasn't just about the way it was cooked. The QUALITY of the meat wasn't there, and I suspect it was old beef. As a foodie, I generally rate every business on the quality of their burger. Gordon Ramsey would say, if you cant make a good burger, nothing else you make matters. Also I got only about 6 tater tots, with very little cheese and bacon bits, all for a $3 upcharge. The biggest problem is that this was a stark contrast to the food we've come to love from this place...and it was $18 bucks total with the loaded tots!!!! If you've ever read the story behind Breakers, its a noble one and I advise you to look it up. That's the part that brings me the most disappointment, where the price has gone through the roof and the quality is nearly gone. To the wonderful ladies that own and operate, be mindful that while you grow your new business the patrons of your old one may feel slighted that you neglected to hold up the quality they've come to expect, especially with such competition in the area (I'm looking at you Doyles). That gives me and others a preconceived idea about the quality at your new location. I can only hope that you'll read this, make some changes (or a new cook) and bring the quality back up to the prices you're expecting people to pay. I am truly sorry to have to rate this 2 stars where it...
Read moreWe went On Saturday just a couple of weeks ago to go and dine in about a 1/2 hour before happy hour. I ordered basically the loaded nachos as an appetizer from the regular menu And as for an entree my wife and I had the mushroom risotto and my mom had the Drunken mussels in a wine sauce with garlic bread. Now the mushroom result though though was pretty tasty the period now for those of you that are watching what you eat it is definitely not for you they're really heavy cream butter made up the bulk of the risotto but again it was tasty. My mom said the mussels. were excellent I'll take her word on it I can't have shellfish. As for the Abbey on the boost weren't even remotely screwed to the floor so you could easily push them around even my three-year-old had no problem to do that do that the table obviously moves moves there was rips or tears in the booths seats The ceiling tiles in the bathroom left something else to be desired they were missing you could see where the water leaks were you could see where wires were dangling from the water leaked areas so it didn't look safe to me I did not sit at the bar so I couldn't tell you how clean or cleansiness it was there. Henceforth that's why I'm giving it a 3 star review the food was at least tasty . By the way the waitress was very...
Read morePlaced a takeout order for the wonton appetizer, reuben, cheeseburger and flatbread with an ETA of 30 minutes. Now sitting IN the restaurant waiting, at the 50 minute mark we're JUST being told they are out of all of their flatbread options... needless to say we're aggravated at this point. 60 minute mark, we're watching people walk in after us picking up their to-gos and we're approached by one of the three hostess (who have been at the counter since we arrived) and asked if we're waiting for a table. Wow. Just. Wow. Then the cherry on top, the excuse "I wasn't the one who took your order so I haven't been checking the kitchen", which begs the question, where IS the employee who took my order? Lord knows it better not have been the other hostess with her mask down under her chin doing nothing but holding a napkin up to her ear the entire time... This is completely unacceptable, your staff is clearly overwhelmed and you should really rethink your takeout process because this aint it sis. We've given this establishment multiple chances and everytime there is something wrong with the order (missing sauces, missing sides, etc) while minor and those mistakes can be excused, this is...
