Valeries is conveniently located next to a business park alongside a high school and a middle school. We've been eating and supporting the business for nearly 15 years, when it was originally known as "Robertos". Over the years the business has gone significantly down hill, however, due to its location and proximity we have continued to support them, until recently.
Over the years I've been given old food, food with mold (burrito tortilla), and incorrect dishes, all of which can be reasonable and excusable, however recently their practices have turned for the worse. Customer service is horrendous, employees regularly roll their eyes at customers, show attitude and snap, and ignore people to tend to their person cell phones. Any adjustments to an order, including swaps (ex Rice instead of French fries) result in a $00.75-1 surcharge. Portion sizes have decreased, while prices have increased. The food quality have become bland, dry, and overly salty; a massive departure to when they would have fresh homemade tortillas made in house.
On a recent visit the menu price online were $1+ off in store, the instore digital menu was off by another $2+, thus they are charging people more than they have on their menu and not providing receipts. When I inquired about the difference in charges the attendant immediately snapped back "if you have problem, call number" pointing at a sign. I called the number to only be told that the company "does not do that" and that her husband would be in touch. A few months later, I've yet to hear back from them.
Oceanside and San Diego has quality shops and they are plentiful, I have chosen to boycott Valerie's and no longer support a business that neglects their customers and quality, and openly and blatantly steals from their customers. The business owners should be ashamed, my hope is the Better Business Bureau and credit card companies will address the...
Read moreSunday at approximately 4:30pm. Nobody in the restaurant but myself. Ordered a Rice bowl which comes with beef sauce, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, cheese and your choice of meat. I had the chicken which was great btw. Will try the shrimp on my next visit. There is a mention of flies at the register and salsa bar. I did not experience this at all. In fact the restaurant is kept quite clean. Props on keeping on top of the bathroom as well, clean and we'll stocked. Prices are fair and the food is good 👍. I prefer a bit more spice/kick to my carrots. They were just ok I came down to check out Living Tea for kombucha and needed ice to keep cold. This was recommended by Maria/cashier at the 99 cent store. Definitely worth the visit and the "A" posted in the window.
I was a guest at my friends wedding reception yesterday and had the pleasure of meeting Steve and his son Justin who were catering the event and co-owners with his wife Valerie. Their Carne Asada Tacos were outstanding and they made the best guacamole I have ever had. I asked Steve about that and he told me that they buy the best avocados you can buy. I was with my son and he doesn't like guacamole, but when I gave him a taste he said that is the best he has ever had. He said if all restaurants served this tasty guacamole, he would order it every time. Another thing that impressed me was the fact that Steve and Justin were cooking and serving the event themselves. Steve told me that he wants to make sure it is the best food experience they can offer! I highly recommend you go to their restaurants or if you have a catering event coming up to hire them and you will give your family and friends the best Mexican...
