Roostr Yard — Restaurant in Oceanside

This was my first time visiting Roostr Yard and unfortunately will be my last. The menu described some delicious dishes that sadly didn't live up to its own descriptions. I had ordered 3 wings (herb & lemon sauce) and a side order of the curry coconut rice. The chicken was bland and slightly undercooked; the sauce was sprinkled on. The rice was overcooked, sloppy, and had a chemical taste that didn't quite taste like curry. There were bits of coconut that didn't seem right with the addition to the soggy texture of the rice. I didn't have much expectation as it was my first time, however it's disappointing to walk away discouraged from trying this spot again. Aside from my own experience, I noticed that any serving of salads (whether it be at my table or others') did not come with any dressing. A member at my table had to ask a staff member for the salad dressing, which confused said staff member in a manner which seemed like asking for salad dressing for your salad order was unusual. There must have been some confusion between the kitchen and staff over this as I noticed the same situation happening with other customers. Overall, I don't think the amount charged for the food was worth the cost. To end my review, I'll also mention that I had to commit to myself to the bathroom due to the undercooked chicken.

Some pros to include the cons: The facility seemed clean enough and the carbonated water from the fountain worked.

It would be a benefit to the company to review some of the kitchen practices and to perhaps train the staff better for an overall customer approving level of expectation where customers would be encouraged to return for good food...

My friend and I have been eyeing this place down and couldn’t wait for them to open. We decided to check it out for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Myra provided excellent service from the moment we walked in and the atmosphere was cleanly! We both got chicken plates, I had mine with the coconut curry rice and my friend has hers with fries. Chicken was seasoned very well, fall off the bone tender and super juicy. Their sauces enhanced the chicken with a nice flavor punch—it was enjoyable to have the ability to try all of them, as they are available in bottles at each table. The coconut curry rice was just okay.. It was a little too over cooked which made the texture mushy… However, Their fries were so bomb! I entered a contest through Instagram and won a whole chicken platter. It was part of a promotion for Fourth of July. Upon arriving there is lots of parking and the establishment is easy to find. When my son and I entered we were greeted with a friendly hello immediately. There are both options of eating indoors or outside. The tables were clean and chairs pushed in when not in use. Our food was hot and ready quickly. Along with the whole chicken came rice and garlic bread. On our way out we selected the various sauces so we could try them at home. All of the sauces are super tasty and there is a sauce for every person’s needs. As a past manager of a restaurant myself and picky about the chicken I eat making sure it is thoroughly cooked, I highly recommend going to Roostr Yard.
