Golden Chick — Restaurant in Odessa

Arrived around lunch time and the first thing I noticed was how clean the outside appeared to be. As I entered the restaurant I observed that the cleanliness continued. I was greated by Kathi as I entered with a warm smile and a friendly hello. As I proceeded to order my food I notice quickly that Kathi had a customer oriented personality. I was able to order my food with no issues. I was impressed the fact that my food was delivered and less than a minute and a half after ordering. The chicken was nice and hot and the mashed potatoes were steaming. Oh the gravy don't get me started on the gravy it was excellent. After devouring my plate of food which was more than enough to fill me up. I was in able to enjoy their free ice cream on a cone. As I left I was greeted with a friendly please come back and see us. I will definitely be coming back here customer service like this is almost impossible...

Food quality has really gone downhill. I ordered a 6 piece chicken strip meal. I was told they were out of zing sauce. I guess lack or preparation causes that issue. When the food arrived, the roll was burnt on the top. The taste of the chicken itself has changed not for the better either. I used to enjoy the tea. However, this time, it was so watered down that it had no tea taste at all. While the server was preparing our food, I also noticed she was not wearing gloves. I really used to enjoy eating here. It is my understanding that this location was bought by another company or owner sometime ago. This is when I started noticing changes and not for the better, and its really sad. Please, golden chick management do not replay with " it appears we missed the mark" and give me some link to report more issues. You know what the issues are. I love this place and I feel a little bad saying that because I used to really, really love Chicken Express. But after this location opened, it's now my preferred stop for chicken.

Their Golden Roast is moist and delicious. Great seasoning. Their rolls rival CE. Their tea is good, I like their salads, catfish is very delicious and doesn't take forever. Their fried chicken is also good, but their chicken strips aren't that great. CE wins out on that. Also, CE corn nuggets are much sweeter than GC. And the CE serendipity seasoning wins, too.

But GC does offer free ice cream for dine-in customers.
