My husband and I have driven by this place a couple of times since moving to Ohio and to be honest I wasn't sure that I would enjoy it because it seemed small and being a shapely woman who has mobility issues at times, I find it challenging to maneuver bars made for tiny butts... or tall people so I shy away from things that look like that. BUT was pleasantly surprised to see Buckhorn has a website, WITH pictures of the inside (thank btw, very helpful for anyone who has any sort of anxiety - my kids are autistic , or disabled.. helps us know ahead of time if we can better navigate the space). So we decided to check it out since the menus are also available online and we can get a good idea of what to expect and want to check out the food. The parking is easy, looks like there's plenty of space in either location (in front or across from the bar), as you walk in there's a bench and plenty of seating at the bar, a nice warm feel to it and the smell of home cooking and old wood ( if you've grown up around log cabins or old houses, you know the smell, it's not bad.. just rustic and that's what they are going for). The staff are friendly and everyone says hello, greats you as you find a place, even though it's the end of the night they brew up a pot of coffee (Diabetic, no alcohol) and we go over menus. I've got a couple of questions for the waitress because I've never had "broasted chicken" before and she happily explained and we get our food, service was great.. food was perfect, just right. No complaints asked for a to go box and a plate of liver and onions for my Mom (I hate making them but she loves them) and they packed them with out any problems, we paid and left a tip. the waitress was timely and helpful and the staff was friendly. I had a great night, would go again.

So I have been here many times since the 80's, and I have always loved this place. The Buckhorn was one of my dad's favorite restaurants It has been about 20 years since I have been here, the place looks exactly the same. So my wife and kids have never been so I thought it would be a great place for them to try. My kids had chicken tenders and a cheesesteak and a burger. Their food looked great and they said it was delicious, I ordered the rib teaser and pork chop and the ribs tasted old they did not taste fresh at all. The pork chop was a little dry but tasted good. My wife had the half slab of ribs and her ribs were just like mine (tasted old and dry) her mashed potatoes tasted old and not fresh either, she also got onion rings ,which were delicious šŸ˜‹ the service was great! Our waitress was busy and she took care of my kids drink refills and checked on us regularly. I do not feel it was worth what it cost,(quality of food)but it is what it is. I did enjoy time with my family and have had lots of memorable meals here in the past. I can't say enough about our server! She was Great!!

Stepping into Buckhorn Tavern feels like a warm embrace from an old friend. The ambiance is rustic yet inviting, with a touch of nostalgia that makes you feel right at home. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food. The cabbage rolls were a delightful surprise, perfectly seasoned and cooked to tender perfection. Accompanied by a side of corn and creamy mashed potatoes, each bite was a comforting nod to homestyle cooking. To wash down the hearty meal, I opted for a pour of Woodford Reserve neat. The bourbon's smooth, rich flavor with hints of vanilla and caramel was the perfect companion to the savory dishes. And for a refreshing finish, the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald beer, with its robust and roasty character, provided a satisfying end to an exceptional dining experience. Buckhorn Tavern truly excels at delivering classic comfort food with a gourmet twist, all while making you feel like part of the family. A must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable meal in a cozy setting.

Honestly it had been years since I had been there, but wanted to take my grown daughter there for the first time. We got there and it was kinda dark in the bar area but that's where we sat. Our waitress took a few minutes to get to us, but when she did she was great. She was very friendly and talked to us like she'd known as for years! So we ordered our meals two ribeye steaks with a salad with blue cheese dressing! We also ordered French onion soup and I got sauteed mushrooms and onions also! When we got the French onion soup it looked great but it wasn't even hot enough to melt the cheese. So the cheese was basically a thick glob on top of the soup with very little French onion soup flavor. The salad itself was amazing, it had great blue cheese dressing. So much I brought the rest of the salad home. Then came the steaks. They looked amazing, especially mine with the sauteed mushrooms and onions on top! The size was awesome, but again there was very little flavor no seasonings with the steak and they were were both rare. Not medium and medium rare. They were rare !!! So we ate basically talking about everything else but how things tasted! All in all it wasn't a great experience as far as the food and the atmosphere was concerned but our waitress was great! I knew that it couldn't have been very good because usually my daughter raves about food and good places to eat. I was very, sad cause I know she doesn't...

My husband and I so believe in and enjoy supporting those out of the way, and stand- by restaurants. We hadn't been in that area for awhile, thought we would give it a try for lunch. very delayed in seating us, the Hostess on duty finally (with an attitude ans I might add, in her own time) went to clean us off a table. The food was not good, service was only adequate and we could over hear the employees talking about how they couldn't wait, they were getting off at 2. Decor was not only outdated, (I could appreciate the history behind the pine booths for tables), it was the extremely filthy carpet that turned our stomachs. Unfortunately, it opened up a thought considering what the kitchen must be like. Out check was $40.83 and we decided a $4 tip was more than adequate. We had already decided we would never be back, and then upon leaving the establishment my husband visited the restroom. He came out and said how filthy it was, and if he had seen it first, we would have never stayed to eat, it was disgusting! I have just received my credit card statement for the time line, and have just discovered that on top of all of the above, the waitress took the liberty to add an additional$5 to the tip line. Total check of $49.83 Would never recommend...
