Stopped in today to pick up a large one topping pepperoni pizza and I was extremely happy with the New Gionino's at Oakwood Square shopping plaza on Easton Road at Middlebranch Ave. Let's face it, this spot has suffered for many, many months with all the remodeling that the shopping plaza has gone through including ripping off the facades of the storefronts. Gionino's sign was down on the sidewalk in front of the store for months and my heart went out to them. How can you manage a business when they rip your sign off of your spot and customers cannot find you? I receive many coupons in the mail for this Gionino's and I wanted to be a customer of this pizza place because I live in Plain Township and the revival of Oakwood Square is important to me after is has been derelict for so many years. However, over the last several months of remodeling and construction, reviews have been posted that have not been too favorable and that disappointed me. Now, I read somewhere that the store is under new management and they've seemed to turned the corner. They have a brand new sign up and it is much better than the old one. So, I was glad to see that. I parked in front to pick up my pizza as I had my puppy with me. Through the front window I could see some yellow scaffolding inside so I knew before I got to the front door that there was still some remodeling going on which I thought might also be a good sign for revival. On the front door was a sign to excuse the mess because of the remodeling but it did not seem messy at all. Pretty typical for the major remodeling that has been going on around here. I had called in my order for a large one topping pizza with coupon for $9.75. I had read somewhere, maybe on one of the advertising flyers, that the store is under new management. The staff was very friendly, and, there were actually people sitting in the store eating which I have NEVER seen before. I got my pie home and boy was it good. It was piping hot even though it is a very cold day today outside. The sauce was good, they didn't skimp on the pepperoni, and you can't beat this pizza for the price and overall value. I made a $41ish order from my boyfriend's house because I loved the Gioninos pizza at several other locations and I was trying to get my boyfriend turned on to Gioninos because it's right down the street from him. Anyway while waiting on delivery my boyfriend said he had received a coupon for 15% off any purchase, so I called and they said they can't take 15% off the the family feast which was $28.50 but they could take off 15% of my $10.75 pizza. I asked wasn't there something else they could do and they said no. My boyfriend said to cancel the order so I did. The owner, called me and said I had to pay the balance of before I would ever be able to order from there again or I could come pick up my food. I've never heard of such a thing and if you look at the coupon it says 15% off any purchase.. I told him I wasn't going to do either and I've ordered elsewhere, he said good and that I was doing him a favor. I told him he should probably speak to his marketing department because he said it's supposed to be 15% off of a regular purchase and the family feast is a special not a regular. I told him how I was trying to get my boyfriend turned on to their pizza because it's my favorite, he then said "if it's your favorite, then why is this your first time ordering from us?" I let him know I'm from Cleveland and I don't live around here. He told me I should of stayed in Cleveland and basically said I was trash because I live in Cleveland. I've never been more offended in my life and to be treated like that as a consumer who is not only trying to enjoy the Gioninos brand pizza but also support a business during the terrible pandemic. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was just here on Saturday and had the worst experience ever! I was told to be there by 6:05 to pick up my order. I was there at 6. I was told a couple more minutes till it would be ready. No problem. At 6:25 the manager gave me my order and walked away. The boneless wings were suppose to be plain with bbq on the side and buffalo on the side. I opened the wings box and they had mixed the bbq and buffalo together and put that on the wings. So I said "excuse me". The manager was standing there folding boxes and a delivery guy at the register . The delivery guy asked "whats wrong?" So I explained the boneless wings were suppose to be plain with bbq on the side and buffalo on the side. But they had mixed the 2 sauces and put that on the wings. A young kid from the back said "yeah, that's bbq buffalo wings in that box". But that's not what I ordered. So the delivery guy said "well what do you want me to do about it? " real cocky. I said well, we arent going to eat these. This is nasty. So he picked up the bag,threw it on the back table and walked away. I said excuse me again and he said "what do you want now?" And the manger,still holding boxes said "now what does she want?" I asked for a refund or for the correct boneless wings. He then explained it would be 15-20 minutes before they would be ready. I explained I had already been there for 33 minutes at this point and my pizza and jojo's were getting cold. So they could either deliver the boneless wings or just refund me. And his repaonce was "yeah, I cant do that. " so he wrote my name on a piece of paper and walked out the door. I stood there for a minute and said " are you'll serious right now? I paid $10 for wings and I'm not getting them or my money back?!" The manger just looked at me and walked away.
