The service was above par and the host was pleasant. The food was a hit and a definite miss on multiple items. My fella got the porterhouse with the vegetables, which was amazing! It was seared to perfection as well as the medium rare he ordered. The vegetable were crisp and light. The Hungarian stuffed peppers with sausage and zucchini were “okay” with the exception that they were not cleaned out properly, leaving tons of pepper seeds that made it inedible/molten lava in the mouth. They were also al dente which intensified the heat. If they were prepared correctly; I’m sure they would have been amazing!
I got the spaghetti and meatballs, because- we were at an Italian ristorante, afterall…. I was left very disappointed- being a chef prior; I know a good sauce… this is NOT a good sauce- at all! It is stewed tomatoes mainly, barely seasoned, and extremely tart. The acid content made me sick. I could tell nothing was added to reduce the acid content such as a carrot, brown or white sugar… something!! No basil, oregano- heck I don’t know if there was even salt and pepper added to this sauce. All I know is; that when I open up a can of stewed tomatoes, whole tomatoes, tomato paste and mixed them together; it would definitely taste the same as what was served to me. The meatballs were flavorful, but only after I reheated them at home. I’m assuming they were made that day and had no time to soak in the flavors that were added yet considering the huge difference in taste from dine in and 2 days later when I heated it up to give it a second chance.
The salad and house dressing is good. I would omit the weird tomato sauce they put on top though, as it does nothing for the salad and takes away from the fresh vegetables being served.
Like I said- a hit and miss. Go...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a truly memorable meal, Niccolinni’s Chop House delivers an exceptional culinary experience. The food is nothing short of amazing—each dish bursts with flavor, and the presentation is just as delightful as the taste. From perfectly cooked pastas to rich, savory entrées, the kitchen at Niccolinni’s knows exactly what it’s doing. Simply put, the food is divine.
The atmosphere is equally charming. The interior is stylish and thoughtfully designed, creating a warm, upscale ambiance that makes you feel like you're somewhere special. Whether you're there for a romantic dinner or a celebratory night out, the setting is ideal.
That said, the service experience can be hit or miss. While some of the teenage servers are friendly and trying their best, the overall service can feel inexperienced and sometimes inattentive. The real drawback, however, is the hosting staff. Unfortunately, the hosts give off a very unwelcoming vibe—think stereotypical cliquey behavior: whispering, being dismissive, and generally making guests feel like they're interrupting rather than arriving. It’s unprofessional and disappointing, especially considering how great everything else is.
Bottom line: Come for the phenomenal food and lovely atmosphere, but brace yourself for inconsistent service and a less-than-stellar welcome. With a stronger front-of-house presence, Niccolinni’s could easily be one of the best dining...
Read moreThis was our first visit since they moved location from Tiffany Blvd. in Boardman to the Canfield location. I had been to the Boardman location and celebrated many family events there and loved it. I wonder if the move accounted for our poor experience? We had a reservation for 5 PM last Friday. We were sat promptly but it was SEVERAL minutes before a server approached us, even for water. We noticed many of the other customers around us were sitting at empty tables too, which made us assume there was a staffing issue. My menu had food stains on it and there were ants crawling on the table. The decor inside the new location needs updated and the whole place looked like it could use a fresh coat of paint and a deep clean. It was also stuffy and muggy inside. So we weren't off to a great start.
We were eventually advised our server was coming from another job and running late. As for the food, the complimentary bread was the best part. The salad was wilty and the vegetables in it were mushy, and the food overall was bland. I got the linguine and clams and the sauce was so watery, we joked my dish looked like soup. My sister got the Pasta Giada (a dish she ordered religiously and loved at the Boardman location) and said it was lackluster. All of this was quite frustrating considering the entrees were all around $17-20! If you have never been, sadly I would recommend skipping Nicolinni's...
