Perry Family Restaurant is the only restaurant in my life I have ever walked out of before receiving my order.
We went in and it was a busy Sunday morning on a nice day. I completely understand to expect a wait during peak hours like that. We were seated and waited for someone to take our order. The waitress who was seating the rest of our section didn't seem to want to take our table for some reason, and she pulled aside a different server who had the other side of the dining room and asked her to take our table. The other server was visibly confused as to why she was asking this, but she came over and took our order after we had waited about 20 minutes. She was really nice. Again, we waited but they were busy so no big deal.
We got our coffee and asked for silverware since we hadn't received it. We ended up having to ask the original server as she passed and she finally brought it. We waited for food for over an hour and nothing came. A manager was circulating the dining room, asking how customers were and having lengthy conversations with other customers. He passed over our table and didn't stop. We continued to wait for our food. In the meantime tables that were seated 30-40 minutes after we came in were getting their food. After we had been in the restaurant about an hour and 30 minutes, the nice server who had been asked to take care of us assured us our food would be out next. After another 15 minutes of waiting, three other tables who came in after us had been served and we didn't have our order. After being in the restaurant an hour and 50 min after coming in, we still hadn't gotten any food and chose to leave.
I chose this restaurant after not being here for over 12 years, but back then I visited several times a month because the homemade corned beef hash was so good. I was looking forward to it today and excited to take my family because they had never been, and am so incredibly...
Read moreWe've been eating here off and on for a few years and never had a bad meal until recently. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp dinner, which included fries and the salad bar. The lettuce from the salad bar seemed to be room temperature and wilted. The shrimp was over-cooked and mushy. The fries were under-cooked and greasy. I didn't eat most of my dinner, and was still hungry when I thought I'd try a piece of pie for dessert. I'd had their cobbler before which was always very good, so I expected the pie to be similar - that was an error. I ordered a piece of Blueberry pie, but the waitress brought me a slice of Cherry. I pointed this out to the waitress who said "no, that's Blueberry". She repeatedly denied it was cherry and insisted it was Blueberry until I took my fork and pulled out a big fat cherry. She then took the slice of pie and returned to the kitchen. For 5 minutes you could hear the waitresses and kitchen staff talking about the pie. She eventually returned and told me they were out of Blueberry, and asked if I'd like something else, so I ordered a slice of Coconut Cream pie instead. She returned with something that looked more like a blob of whipped cream on a plate than a slice of pie. She apologized for the way the pie looked and said I wouldn't be charged for it, which I wasn't. However, it as the absolute worst example of coconut cream pie I've ever had. The crust was almost non-existent, consisting only of loose graham cracker crumbs. The filling was obviously a cheap pudding and had a heavy fake coconut flavor. It was topped off with some whipped cream and a few sprinkles of shredded coconut. I took two bites and left the rest.
I'm not sure what's happened recently that's caused their quality to go downhill, but when the salad, entree and dessert in one meal are all bad, that pretty much ensures we won't...
Read moreNot sure if they are understaffed or lack motivation, but the time it takes to receive a to-go order is ridiculous. Way too many times we order food, get there shortly after the pick-up time and we still spend 20-45 minutes waiting for our food.
Update: I am updating my review to give one star this time around. I am completely and utterly dumbfounded by the lack of customer service and ability to make an order correctly. EVERY SINGLE TIME we order from here our order is either wrong, the food is cold, we wait an extra 40 minutes after our pickup time. This time around, my husband picked it up, the hostess (or whoever) asked what his order was, he told her and she STILL gave him the wrong food!!!!!! How does this happen so often? Time and time again we try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but no more. The aggravation this place causes us is not worth how close they are to home (which at this point, is the ONLY reason we ever get food from here). When we called to exclaim our issue, we originally got hung up on, and then called back and the woman wasnât even apologetic!!! Our options: drive back up to the restaurant to get our correct order (after my husband was already home) OR we can have a credit. A credit?! Really? What makes you think we want to come back?! This restaurant will be closed within the year. The current staff does not care or have any pride in their work whatsoever. Bad customer service kills businesses! Do yourself a favor and just go to McDonaldâs for breakfast. At least there you know what...
