Rather than write my opinion on my experience at Schlepp's, I'll just write a factual representation of the experience.
What I ordered: 2 eggs (over medium), sausage (patties), toast (white), with coffee
What I received: 2 eggs with burned whites, some mystery meat in a round and flat shape with very little flavor and more salt than meat (Mc Donalds fare), toast, and coffee in a dirty cup.
What I saw: no less than four floor staff, running around like chickens with their head cut off, serving a clientèle that three could've handled proficiently... two if well trained.
The service I received: order taken, food placed in front of me, apple butter upon request (an item that SHOULD have been available via caddy at seating area)... several minutes later, I was questioned if the food was "okay", where upon I immediately and politely disclosed my discontent with the sausage... before I finished my response, I was rudely interrupted with "would you like more coffee"... at such point, I chose not to exercise any manner of futile complaint over the dirty cup. Several minutes later, I was presented with an uncorrected ticket, for an uncorrected meal... and a staff member with the audacity to ask again "Was everything okay?. I quickly responded "No, not really." with sufficient emphasis to be understood. My payment of $7.00 was given and accepted for a $6.70+ meal, that wasn't worth more than the eggs and toast... correction, the toast.
As a note, I will admit that the "sausage" was, to the best I could tell, properly prepared (if it ever could be).
I understand that a waitress doesn't order the food, prepare it, and/or most often doesn't do the dishes... however, it is the responsibility of said waitress to be attentive to customer issues, and resolve them in an expedient manner. The waitress is the customer's only line of communication... or at least they SHOULD be.
In this case, however... the "waitress" (if that's what you would like to call her) failed... thus my communication is being relayed via internationally available means of Google.
This is the kind of "mom 'n' pops" place that causes other (read: higher quality of service) "mom 'n' pops" to be diregarded in favor of chains or fast food.
They're somewhat immune to comments and reviews such as this one, due to their faithful clientèle. So allow me to spell it like it is:
This FACTUAL, unopinionated review, is not meant to impact the business. If you are seeking an experience like the one described above, you're looking at the right...
Read moreFirst time visiting. Waitress was friendly, my burger got cold had to nuke it. I showed the owner how dry and crumbly my burger patty was. 1 strip of bacon hard as a rock. She said probably just that one. Ok! Chile cheese french fries came out cold potatoes. Second order had absouletely no flavor had kidney bean skin no bean lol very watery. Appetiser clam strips I was crunching on some dirt or sand I don't know. Eaw! Dr. Pepper flat so syrup. Country fried steak was overcooked and the gravy Does not taste home made it taste like flour. Biscuits and gravy no flavour. On a good note the liver and onions and bake potato were fresh Pops enjoyed them. Owner wanted to take whatever was not good off the bill I told her no but I did not pay for that dry Burger. We Left the waitress a good tip it's not her fault she did good. Will NOT return wasted money. They need a experienced Chef or experienced Cook. Another thing that I thought was very unprofessional the owner was scolding a waitress on the phone very loudly we...
Read moreThis place is beyond amazing. My dad comes here all the time, but I had never been here until now. There is a huge variety of food to choose from, including breakfast all day. When they brought the food out, I was absolutely shocked at the amount of food that we all got for the price we paid. The portions were more than generous. Then it came time to actually taste the food, and it was just delicious. Sometimes, you can go to these family owned restaurants, and the food can be really bland and just not great, but that was not the case here. My dad got breakfast with an omelet, I chose a french toast breakfast, my husband chose a rib meal, and my son chose to get steak. All I can say is that every one of us was beyond happy with the taste of this delicious food. We also had to get boxes because there was just so much food that we could not finish It. I will definitely be back, and I will...
