La Cabaña Taqueria Restaurant — Restaurant in Okeechobee

Me and my husband were there for lunch today APRIL 17, 2021 @ around 1pm. It was our first time in this restaurant since we’re just visiting Okeechobee during weekends. The place was clean and well organized, when we reach the register we were pleasantly welcomed by the two Cashiers wearing their black shirt uniforms and they both look neat. There were foods in the cabinet display, I asked what was the meat in there and one of them courteously informed me that there was goat meat and beef. So I ordered beef and it can be bought per lbs so I said I will take 1 lb of it, then I was offered a plate with Mexican Rice and beans in it, so I said that will be great. My husband simply ordered their burritos. The cashier was so courteous and pleasant. While we were seated and waiting for our orders, one of the server wearing black uniform immediately served us the chips. After 5 minutes or so..... one server came (she’s not wearing black shirt uniform) her hair wasn’t tied up and worst she’s got FAKE LONG NAILS ON!!! WHEN SHE WAS SERVING MY ORDER THUMB WAS HOLDING THE RIM OF THE BOWL WITH HER FAKE NAILS DIPPING ON THE BROTH!!!! I immediately point out her nails and she realized that there was already broth on her FAKE NAILS!!!

My boyfriend and I were in Okeechobee a couple months ago and decided to stop here for the first time after finding it online. He is Mexican and from Los Angeles, where some of the best Mexican food is. Let me start by saying…this is by far the BEST birria tacos I’ve ever had. Birria de res will never cut it anymore for me after having La Cabaña’s birria de chivo. The flavors of the birria were amazing and it was so juicy. The consommé was delicious and the tortillas were literal perfection. They were soft inside with a crisp layer outside. My bf said it was easily in his top 3 and possibly #1 for birria tacos and it took the #1 spot for me. You ever have tacos that are so good that after you take the first bite, you have to stop and contemplate how you ever could’ve liked any other taco before? Yeah…that’s what happened when we tried the birria tacos here. Because everything was so good, we decided to get a few different tamales to take back home for later. They were also delicious. We live about 1 1/2 hours away from Okeechobee and will drive there just for La Cabaña’s birria de chivo tacos. Thank you for the delicious food and...

The food was above average and pricey. (2 tacos, rice & beans $10). The counter people were not friendly and didn't welcome us but it could be bc they spoke very little English. Just came across as not a friendly environment and like they were being forced to work. The guy that delivered the food to the table didn't speak English and consistently served the wrong food to everybody in there and one point was taking the food back to the kitchen bc he didn't understand that it was for our table and he just served it to the wrong person in our party. The saving grace for service was the one experienced staff member that refilled our drinks happily and checked in on us. Maybe they were just having an off day. I...
