I tried this restaurant a total of 3 times. First and second tries were for Vietnamese coffee; closer to when it first opened: the flavor lacked a certain level of authenticity. (didn't have the espresso panache signature that comes with Vietnamese coffee) I opted to dine in this time: tried a banh mi (grilled chicken) and my dad tried the signature oxtail pho. On the Vietnamese side; the menu was completely in English. Not really helpful if you're wanting a seal of approval from the people you need the thumbs up from. I got served my banh mi, but I had to go ask for a napkin. The flavor was fair, chicken a little on the dry and chewy side. For the price, quality, and portion; I would opt to go for one of the other restaurants close by. My dad's pho took a little longer than expected. (about 20 min.) My dad's overall review (nicely translated from Vietnamese) "pretty bad, I don't plan on coming back." He also had to walk up to the counter and ask for a spoon, napkin, and his vegetable plate. And for the price, quality, and portion: I would opt to go elsewhere. I dined in when there was about 20% occupancy. Service needs to be more considerate about how certain foods are consumed. (soups need a spoon, napkins if you're serving finger foods) The price point should prove a better food quality. Atmosphere: I can see the concept, but doesn't quite pull it off. I reviewed this restaurant even though it's been open for less than a year. I hope things get better as I'm not too privy on returning...
Read moreThis is a newest Vietnamese restaurant in southwest OKC. I went with my daughter last Sunday. Walked into the restaurant, I was not impressed with the decoration, it's an average environment, not fancy like other "authentic" restaurants, and so are the prices, very affordable menu. The menu is a good mix with some very good and creative items like Rib pho and oxtail pho, etc. However, I was super surprised to find one very authentic Vietnamese item on the appetize menu: the Egg-Roll! Most of you knew Vietnamese egg-roll; however, this egg-roll style is not found anywhere in the Oklahoma. The ingredients include shredded carrots and wood-ear fungi mushrooms, grounded pork and clear small vermicelli and wrapped with the rice based wrapper. No shrimps, bean thread noodles, cabbages, taro or wheat base wrappers. inside-out, 100% authentic Vietnamese egg-roll. I left Vietnam since 1975. To find this very authentic egg roll in the US after 47 years, it took me all the way back with fond memories. If you want to taste a real traditional authentic Vietnamese egg-roll (btw, it's called Cha Gio), you have to try it one. Highly...
Read moreGlad I got to try this place out. Was kind of skeptical at first since it's usually pretty slow, but it turned out to be really nice. Excellent pork spring rolls (called egg rolls on the menu). Reminds me EXACTLY of my grandma's spring rolls. They even brought me lettuce leaves to wrap them in.
Tried the crystal shrimp dumplings-- really good, perfectly seasoned and not overcooked; came with a great savory soy-based sauce.
Also tried the bao bao with honey pork. Way better buns than Chae (closed since 2017-ish).
Banh mi was great. Soft bread-- seemed like it was pretty freshly baked. Pate was a great quality.
Pho could've used some work-- I got a bowl with noodles that got the scissor treatment (and it also was all clumped together for some reason?). But the onions, broth, and meat were all very good. Bean sprouts were starting to turn, so had to pick a few out.
Very kind and responsive service. I will definitely be back. Best banh mi in the area so far. Maybe best spring rolls...
