It's a dive in terms of atmosphere. Extremely small restaurant. There's a small counter space on the inside over looking the tiny kitchen. The outside is just a patio with cheap dining furniture. Note, I still gave Sedalias five stars. And they deserve every one of them. The food is simply divine. I've been twice in the last week!!! Freshest seafood you can get in OKC and prepared by an amazingly talented chef. The bread with cod butter was life changing. Seriously. Do NOT skip it. The grilled oysters were simply the best I've ever tasted in any state or country I've been to. The fried hake was what every piece of fried fish should be and rarely ever is. Perfectly crisp crunch on the outside. Thinly battered, to let the flakey, tender flesh of the fish shine through. The day scallops....well....I had no idea scallops had so much flavor. They are served raw. It was clearly labeled on the menu as being from the raw bar. I was just too excited to see fresh scallops and my eyes skipped right over that part!!! Being immunocompromised I only risked a couple bites, then took the rest home and threw them in a searing hot cast iron skillet for like 2.5 minutes until just cooked through. I'm sure they would have done it for me, but I couldn't bear asking them to alter their dish for fear they might think it criticism and it most certainly is NOT. They were delicious raw and just as good cooked. Whatever butter, nut, vinegarette HEAVEN they had the scallops marinated in stood up well to cooking and it was every bit as flavorsome. The service is simply excellent. The waitstaff is highly knowledgeable about the food and its sourcing. It's an all hands on deck approach there. I think the chef himself brought out my meal. Everyone is friendly, warm and inviting. After explaining about my raw restrictions the waitress made it a point to tell me she'd remember. I would feel fully comfortable just asking next time if they'd mind searing the scallops and I'm sure it would be no problem at all. Their menu changes every week or two so you'll never be bored. This weekend they had live sea urchin on special. There are items for even the most jaded of palates. I missed out on the paddlefish caviar. They sold out!! So I'll be stalking the menu every week until it returns and will make it a point to pop in earlier in the week! So you see....it WORKS. Think Nonesuch or Grey Sweater level cuisine and service but unpretentious, homey and reasonably priced for what you're getting. Fresh salmon flown in same day from Norway ain't cheap. But otherwise... Feel free to show up in jeans and a cute and comfy sweater, chat up your server, relax and let your...
Read moreThis is a very small restaurant but very well done. I went with my parents for a special occasion and we sat outside. There were heaters set up outside and plastic to help keep the area warm. Service is done in a tapas/family style where you can get a one or two things to start and ask for more later. It makes for a very casual flow while also allowing for a very intimate service.
The team was very attentive but also gave us room to experience the food and each other's company without interruption. Our water glasses were always filled and the individual attending to our table was very knowledgeable about the beverage selection available. Every person on the team seemed to be very aware of all the guests as well as very knowledgeable about the food and beverage menu. Overall it was a great service experience.
The menu selection is based on market offerings and everything is incredibly fresh. Everything is perfectly executed and all of the menu options are very intentionally done. The wine menu is also incredibly thought out and offer some really great wines that aren't coming found in local liquor stores which was very exciting. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos because the food was so good, I forgot to.
We ordered: -A dozen oysters -Shrimp serviche -Focaccia (we asked for the cod butter on the side and when we got a second round for the table, the team remembered the request without us having to remind them which was great because we forgot to ask) -octopus anticuchos -fried hake -geoduck -salmon crudo -honey mousse
-Surene Lake Garda Amaro -No Name Fruilano 2019 -Madiera
The food was absolutely incredible. Every single dish was incredibly seasoned and I would absolutely recommend every single thing in the menu. The wine also paired with the food incredibly well and the Amaro was absolutely delightful with a very herbal palate.
I absolutely recommend Sedalia's and it's a...
Read moreThe most romantic little place! Do you want to feel special, exclusive? As if you were the only person on Earth to know about THE place to go in OKC? I have been to commercial and local places all over the metro. I often look for the best steak cuts in the area but my second go-to hunt is for oysters (I thought Drake was my place but it unfortunately closed Jan 2025). Sedalia will not disappoint you.
The indoor area was intimate and cozy. It was the perfect starting point for my single-serving bottle of wine and some time apart from the family and the city (despite the 8-minute convenience away from downtown).
When my loved ones surprised me though, we went outside to the enclosed patio and play area. My dog happily played with my young son on the play set while my spouse and I had a separated dining experience. We greatly appreciated the family dining opportunity while simultaneously having an intimate moment.
I haven’t mentioned the food, I suppose, for more lack of words than anything — the dishes literally took the words out of my mouth with their simplicity and exquisiteness. I had two types of Canadian oysters. My spouse and I both had the tartare with freshly ground horse radish, squid with verde sauce, and finally the special of the night (which I will be coy and not tell you about) with a bottle of white wine.
We took photos and raved to our friends. If we could have done justice by capturing their essence in the photos, then we would share BUT it is truly something you have to go and see. One co-owner was concocted something in the kitchen, the other co-owner made us feel like long-term regulars despite being first timers. The two worked seamlessly to wrap us in a dining experience that I will not forget. After 10 years of marriage, we may transition our new favorite family joint from Royal Bavaria in Moore to Sedalia’s Oyster...
