I was so excited by the flavors listed on the website. They didn’t have the flavor I came for but the runner up was delicious. Unfortunately the ice cream was soupy. So if you eat really fast you’re ok. I def wouldn’t try an ice cream cake. I love waffle cones but am often disappointed with soggy offerings. There is one shop in town that has crisp, delicious waffle cones. I asked if the girls working were familiar with said shop’s cones. They said they were and they felt their’s were better. They were fresh they said. The top inch or so of the cone was blond and undercooked, as it turns out. I asked if the top of the cone was supposed to be raw. They stated yes the tops a little lighter. The blond portion literally bent, it did not snap as a waffle cone should. I peeled off the blond portion of the cone for trash and ate the cooked part. That soupy ice cream? Turns out that Whopper the other shops puts in the bottom of the waffle cone is important. All together the great flavor of the ice cream did not overshadow soupy consistency and undercooked cones. Both my guest and I were disappointed in what was supposed to be a...

I had the classic Chocolate Brownie and my partner had S'mores which had the burnt marshmallow live made by the employee right infront of us. Both the icecream taste really fresh compared to the other icecreams we generally have from Wholefoods or Price Chopper.

Read moreBetty Rae's has long been on my list of places to try, and last night we finally made it to one. I was pumped to try it because of all the hype I had heard.
The store smelled terrible, like wet dog. One girl behind the counter was busy talking with the group of people in front of us. She took 1 of the 3 orders for our group and literally walked away to the back of the store.
The tables outside were filthy. I get it though, ice cream can be messy. But this looked like it had been sitting all day and it was now 8pm.
The creme brulee ice cream was so bitter I took 2 bites and threw it in the trash. The cereal milk flavor was nothing to write home about but was an ok palate cleanser after eating the creme brulee flavor.
This was our first experience at any Betty Rae location and based on this experience we will not be trying any others. There are plenty of other local ice cream stores that have faster service, better prices, and better...
