If you’re anywhere near Matawan and haven’t been to Wasabi Kaizen, you are absolutely missing out on one of New Jersey’s best hidden culinary gems. This place is a total knockout—from the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming energy of the space sets the tone for a truly unforgettable meal.

The sushi is simply next-level. Every piece was impossibly fresh, beautifully presented, and expertly crafted. From the delicate balance of the sashimi to the creative, flavor-packed specialty rolls, it’s clear that every dish is made with care and precision. We’re talking melt-in-your-mouth tuna, buttery salmon, and inventive combinations that surprise in the best way.

And don’t even get me started on the ramen—rich, savory broth that tastes like it’s been simmering for days, springy noodles with the perfect bite, and toppings that bring everything together. It’s the kind of bowl that makes you stop mid-conversation just to savor how good it is.

But what truly sets Wasabi Kaizen apart is the heart behind it: Wally and Flavio, the incredible owners. Their generosity and genuine hospitality are unmatched. Whether it's treating regulars like family, going the extra mile to make sure you're happy, or just sharing a warm conversation, these two pour their soul into every aspect of the restaurant. You can feel it in the food, in the atmosphere, and in the way people keep coming back again and again.

Wasabi Kaizen isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. A place where quality, creativity, and kindness come together in every bite. Go. Eat....

The newly renovated Japanese-themed interior is beautiful with paper koi floating on the ceiling next to a cloud of sakura. The service was prompt and friendly. And as far as I can tell, this place sells the best Japanese food in the area.

The sushi tasted fresh and was crafted very well. The ramen was very flavorful with thick slices of juicy pork. At the end of the meal, the matcha cheesecake we ordered was perfect.

My favorite dish is the mentai potato appetizer. There’s something very satisfying about crunching hot french fries with that hint of spiciness and umami goodness of mentaiko.

I’m looking forward to making another trip here to try out...

Just went back to Wasabi after months, and it’s completely transformed—it’s actually a whole new restaurant now! The food was amazing—whatever the chef is doing, it’s seriously elevating the flavors. Everything was beautifully presented, too. Best of all, the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. Totally worth the visit. Grab your friends or family and enjoy a relaxed, delicious meal at...
