China Taste — Restaurant in Oldsmar

Louisiana seafood boil had bad clams! Ordered this Friday evening Oct 22, 2021 with half pound of snow crab, half pound of clams, and half pound crawfish. When I brought it home, only 2 clams had opened and one of those two had been cracked open. The others never opened, and so therefore we’re dead clams when they cooked them which means if I did not know any better I would have gotten ill forcing dead clams open. Needless to say this dinner was $35 with tax, and had 1 broken cluster of snow crab legs, and 5 crawfish and a load of bad clams. I won’t be ordering this again! How can you serve a dish with dead clams? Anytime clams do not open when cooked, you don’t eat them. You all should know this being in the restaurant business. You are waiting for someone to sue you for food poisoning. And to those wondering, YES, this is the China Taste in Oldsmar! They now sell Louisiana seafood boils but these options are NOT on apps like Uber etc. You must go here in person

Second visit: Dec 26, 2023. Egg drop soup was like slimy...

The service was fine, the lady at the counter had a warm smile and asked me what sauces I would like.

The food on the other hand… this will be one of the first meals my partners and I just had no desire to finish in over a year of being together.

The Mongolian beef might as well had been Mongolian onion with a side of rice, topped with beef. So little protein in the dish it was laughable. Almost a whole onion must have been sliced in there though.

The egg drop soup tasted very off. The steak and cheese eggroll was so overfried it was almost inedible but decent. The fried wontons were dead. I mean dead dead. So crispy my partners wouldn’t eat them for fear of breaking a veneer.

The King of the Sea meal was decent, think the scallops and crab were turning. Very slimy.

Finally, the general tsos delight (shrimp and chicken) was okay, probably the highlight of the meal, but the breading is sooo thick it makes it hard to eat more than a few bites.

Since writing this review the overall quality of the food has been hit or miss. Also, the prices have gone up, significantly and the quantity of food has gone down.

When we first started ordering from China Taste, you would an egg roll, soup and your entree all for 8.99. Now you only get your entree for 13.99. Since this change, we have stopped ordering from China Taste and have found a comparable restaurant that still offers the meals

Been ordering from China Taste for almost 3 years now and have never had a bad experience or meal from them. Every meal is consistent with the previous and when there is an issue on DoorDash I call immediately and they take care of the issue immediately.

So glad I took my nail technicians recommendation from a few doors down to give it a try. If you’re looking for a authentic Chinese restaurant do not...
