Esmeralda's Taco Shop — Restaurant in Olive Branch

I took my 2 guys and myself to Esmeralda's after spending two days loading & unloading a small U-haul truck as a Reward for Job Well Done. I am in the process of opening a very small Party, Event and Food Gift Shop in the area and thought we deserved an excellent lunch. Dang! The Chalkboard said Tamales ...Yes ..Esmeralda is on point and so sweet and helpful. When I ordered she added that these are Central America Tamale and I said Yes ...need 4 (I lived in Texas and worked in the MS Delta so I thought I knew) Man ...these things are huge and so tasty ...I ate 1 and took 3 home to the Hub. The red sauce on the side is excellent. The chips and Salsa on the table was fire. Add a couple of Coronas and your lunch is perfect. Such a pleasant stop on our drive through Mississippi on the way from Atlanta to the Ozarks! We initially just stopped to get gas a few miles down the road and then decided to grab some lunch. I searched Google for local restaurants, saw the great 4.8 rating, saw that they served pupusas, and said, “Yup! This is where we’re going.” It was the right move.

The pupusas were very tasty with that perfect crispy cheese crust on the exterior, and a nice side of vinegary curtido—which they were happy to provide an extra serving of to go along with the generous portion of pupusas. I had the jalapeño/cheese and bean/cheese. Both were very satisfying.

1st visit to this lil taco shop. Small in size(I can definitely see it growing fast) but BIG on flavor. Young man at register could tell we were new. He was sooooooo accommodating and helpful. Not rude and/or impatient like we've experienced before. I got the quesabirra tacos. OMG...very good. Flavor was on point. I asked for extra limes and he brought them promptly. Flavor again. Husband got the fajita quesadilla and the meat was sooooo tender and good. Baby Girl got rice. The rice was better than I've had at any Mexican spot. EVERY THING was good. The salsa was a little different in consistency but it had flavor. My husband only dips a few chips in my salsa at every restaurant we've been to. This salsa was "poured" on his quesadilla.
