I had a very disappointing visit to the Elkhorn DQ and an even more unpleasant experience with the manager Evelyn. I come in often with my family of four and my folks and order food and ice cream. Today we ordered our food, two kids meals, one honey bbq meal and one $7 meal deal. At no point did anyone tell us they were out of Chocolate ice cream. After eating, when I went up to get the ice cream I was told they didn't have chocolate ice cream. Our order was mainly chocolate ice cream so you can understand how disappointed my kids and I were. I was upset that the staff didn't tell us this fact up front and one of them left to get the manager. Evelyn came out, took off her headset and just said, "What?" I said, "How long have you been out of chocolate ice cream?" Evelyn: "Since earlier today, about lunch." Me: "Why wouldn't you tell us that up front? We would not have ordered had we known that." Here is where she crossed the line, she started to get very in my face and said, "I tell my staff to not let people know until they specifically ask for ice cream. I don't know that you aren't going to use those (gestures to kids coupons) at a later date or not." I argued - what about my $7 meal deal, I don't have a coupon with that. She says, we'll give you a coupon. I said, that's not what I'm saying, I didn't GET a coupon when I ordered it, therefore you assume I'm going to order it NOW. She just shrugged and acted very "that's your problem" with me. I cannot remember the last time I've dealt with someone so rude. I seriously would not have ordered here had I known that and now I feel like DQ has essentially swindled me out of nearly $30. You're a big company - are those $30 seriously worth treating customers like trash!?! Why would your manager INSTRUCT HER STAFF to essentially BAIT AND SWITCH people!? I felt extremely offended. I seriously DOUBT I'll be back. Dairy Chef in Elkhorn is literally right...
Read moreI think at this point, I have to share my experience. We've been coming to the local NW Omaha/Elkhorn DQs for about 4 months now (various locations, and I know they all might have different ownership).
When I order a royal ultimate Choco brownie extreme. I sure do expect a cup of ice cream to look chocolatey, and hopefully be chocolatey all the way throughout. Mini moon to go when I was a young inn and worked at the dairy queen Lincoln, the original recipe started with chocolate ice cream. Again, I know some franchises no longer offer chocolate soft serve, so in that case, you could just blend it with the cold fudge and make it chocolatey throughout.
I would be really curious to know. What is the current serving sizes for additions / toppings that are supposed to go in this blizzard. It just does not feel ultimate or royal enough to be called a choco brownie extreme. See the video as proof. 🤎 we love dairy queen, just wish it could be royal and...
Read moreWife wanted something cool and refreshing post-oral surgery, specifically a DQ shake. As I was hitting every damn red light on Highway 31, I called them about 9:53 PM and asked them if it was possible for them to make two extra-large chocolate shakes in advance since it looked like it might be just after close by the time I got there, explained the circumstances, and would they mind staying open just a few minutes past close? Not a problem, they assured me, and true to their word, I rolled into the drive-thru at 10:04 to be greeted with "Are you Mister Shake Guy?" Yes, my child, yes I am. "C'mon on up, sir, they're both ready." Thanked them profusely, tipped the girl at the window, she wished the bride a speedy recovery, and we were very happy to have our bucket-sized chocolate shakes, which really hit the spot for both of us. Thanks, DQ staff, for accommodating a guy rushing to beat the clock to help his bride...
