First Watch — Restaurant in Omaha

My bestie and I decided to come out and celebrate a special occasion today. We went around lunch time and decided to sample some of the new offerings on the Summer Menu. I had the Lone Star Brisket Hash while we shared an order of the Bacon Cheddar Cornbread, a Carrot Cake pancake and the Watermelon Wake-Up, and she had the Smoked Salmon Benedict (not pictured).

The Lone Star Brisket Hash was definitely crave worthy so best to enjoy while it’s available still this summer. Everything was perfectly seasoned with the Smoked Brisket and combined with everything else into the perfect breakfast taco I would definitely get again! I really enjoyed the pickled peppers in there to help break up the richness of everything. I really enjoyed the Watermelon Wake-Up from the Juice Bar light but not to sweet and just a great compliment to the hash. The Bacon Cheddar Cornbread was really delicious and very well done. The bacon was nice and Smokey while the cheese wasn’t too much, little pops of scallion added a little sweetness. The cornbread was also light and fluffy inside while the outside was perfectly crunchy with the Honey Butter on top. The Carrot Cake Pancake was the perfect sweet and crunchy experience to finish off our rich and savory brunch!

Overall lovely experience today and will definitely be back, atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, didn’t get to get out to the balcony but we will try and ask for it next time. First time and LAST time customer. I did not enjoy this experience at all and I don’t understand why they are so busy because they are 100% not worth the wait.

SAFETY: First of all, their website states a commitment to safety for COVID-19 and yet the restaurant was not following any of what the website said. There was not a single staff member wearing masks, not a single patron social distanced, and the menus were definitely passed from table to table. SERVICE: Service was terrible, after waiting 20 minutes for a table we waited another 40 minutes after ordering to even receive our food, meanwhile watching the table next to us sit down after us, get all their food, and get the check before our food even arrived. We didn’t order a large order or complicated order, just a had an omelette and a breakfast hash. No apology even or check in from the server for the long wait. FOOD: I’m not sure this place knows how to cook food at all. The toast was soggy and barely toasted. The potatoes in the hash were hard and undercooked but the eggs on top were over cooked. The cheese on the hash wasn’t even melted. The chorizo tasted and felt like sloppy Joe. Is this supposed to be farm to table? It was farm to terrible. ATMOSPHERE: The loud music and unfinished industrial ceilings made this place feel like a mall food court, and the quality of food tasted like it too. We ate breakfast here on Mother’s Day. We were a party of 11 people and we were served one meal at a time all about 5-10 mins apart. So, by the time the last two got their meals about half of the people at the table had long since finished their breakfast! When the last two meals were served the manager apologized and said he would take 20% off the bills for the inconvenience. We are never looking for a handout and would have much preferred to eat together as a family BUT we thought it was very responsive of him to attempt to make it right by us. However, when the bills came the 20% was not taken off so the waitress told us to go to the register and the manager would take care of it there! My bill was $80 (4 of the 11 people) and when I went to the register he said he would take $2 off of it. I questioned him about the 20% he said he would take off the bills and he said OK I’ll take $4 off then. I explained that 20% of an $80 bill is $16 and he threw his arms up in the air and said “I’m too busy to figure this out I’ll take care of the bills and YOU ALL JUST GO!!! I left feeling embarrassed and frustrated! What we first thought was handled perfectly turned into a disaster and the restaurant was out over $200 because he didn’t want to take 5 mins to do what he VOLUNTEERED to do!
