Dear owner Iam waiting to u because I had enough of your la mesa restaurant I am tired of giving it a try. Every time I go they either ignore me and my family and my husband or they treat us terrible . But we try to give u guys  a chance because the food taste really good . But unfortunately because of your waiters and the Manger u have named hector I promise I won't becoming back ... here is an example that happend yesterday October 29 2023 ... me and my mother and grandmother went there for dinner the host sat us down at our table and then our waiter approaches us at first it was okay then I spoke spanish because the 3 our spoke Spanish so we were ordering and his face omg changed and started making faces with disgust because we were taking spanish and the fact he also spoke spanish . He didn't seem to like it .. so then we ordered and brought our food . When he brought our food that was the last time we saw him . Never came to check on us . We ran our of our drinks we order lemonade and he never refilled them nor my water never came back . When it was time to go we had to ask him to bring a box and a check . After he brought It he left our check and box and left.  When my mother was paying she asked me to leave a tip I said no because he really gave us bad service but my mother insisted to give him a tip . When we left our tip we got up from the table and  was leaving I happend to look back and saw him go to the table look at tip we left him and I swear he looked  at me and with a look of disgust he and he shook his head at me....   iam sorry  but this isn't something u need when your trying to have dinner with my mother and grandmother after a frustrating day the 3 of us had .. no thank you most definitely my and my family and husband won't come back and won't be giving u a try again . Iam done . Iam writing to let u know this that your waitres need to learn what customer service is ... I should know what that is I was a waitre for 8 years and everyone loved my...

This location generally has great service. Yesterday, though, was the first time I had to leave without even ordering food.

A friend and I arrived at 12:40 with our toddlers. Our waiter greeted us immediately and was back quickly with our drinks, queso and guacamole. Then everything went downhill. After 15 minutes the kids started getting antsy so we tried flagging down our waiter, a manager, or anyone else that could help us but we only got diverted eyes and no assistance. After 30 minutes, one of the kids spilled their milk and began making a big fuss. Now we were trying to get someone's attention to not only take our order but to also get a couple rags so we could clean up our mess. Still nothing. At 1:20 our waiter FINALLY stopped at our table...but with food that he assumed was ours. We informed him that it wasn't ours and that we, in fact, hadn't ordered anything yet. He just laughed and walked at. 5 minutes later he returned to take our orders but our toddlers were over sitting in a booth so we had to leave. HE THEN PRESENTED US WITH A CHECK FOR FOOD WE DIDN'T ORDER! When he came back with a new check he left again because he didn't even know what we had. We left at 1:30 with barely an apology.

I have tried calling the location multiple times to speak with a manager, or even an employee, but have yet to actually talk with someone.

This was the first and only time we've ever experienced this at La Mesa, though. Generally we always have great...

This was my first time ever visiting a La Mesa restaurant & I was pretty impressed! The decor is amazing - so much to look at and a lot of detail put into everything from the chairs to the plates (they appear to be hand painted with La Mesa on them!). We are here on an early Monday evening & had no issues with a wait. Staff was friendly from the entrance to the waitress and upon leaving. Everyone smiled and greeted you with sincerity. Waitress was very patient with our group as we had some older indecisive folks with us - she was great at refilling drinks when we requested them. I wasn't a big fan of the complimentary chips. The salsa was good, but something about the chips didn't excite me. The horchata I ordered was refreshing - a little different than what I'm used to - possibly a little less cinnamon in it than in accustomed to? I took a leap and ordered something I had never heard of before. Torta ahogada - the description alone sounded pretty darn good, so I went with it! And WOW! I was not disappointed at all. Delicious & lots of food to consume!!! I highly recommend trying this if you have not yet. It has hints of a sloppy joe to me, but better. And the onions in it were not overbearing. Others in my group got the carne asada street tacos, and beef enchiladas & a beef burrito. The food was delicious and everyone ate every last bite,...

La Mesa is an Omaha tradition, but I have to admit for awhile the one at 156th & Q wasn't good and we stopped going. We went back a few months ago and they have fixed the problems. We went again tonight and it was good enough to review. The food was delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. The bar is outstanding. I ordered a personalized mocktail and the balance of flavors was perfect. The housemade tomato salsa they bring with the free chips is saucy with bits of onions and peppers. The chips are pretty standard but with the salsa and an order of their white queso dip - yum. Husband ordered a combination plate of three street tacos. Birria, shredded beef and a shredded chicken one. The birria sauce had a kick. The shells were crunchy, not soggy and didn't fall apart. The beef one was salty but otherwise delicious. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and was surprised at the abundance of shredded chicken and chunks of potatoes. Husband ordered flan, because he loves it. It was rich and caramelly. We are so relieved they are good again and look forward to our next meal there.

Been a die hard la mesa fan for over 20yrs, so it pains me to see their service suck so bad and prices go to what they have. Numerous times now we show up and get no service for 15-20mins. Most recent time, we had to get all of our drinks ($5 lemonade for the kids!) at the bar and it was 30mins before anyone came to our table. Somehow he was rude on top of it, as if it was our fault. The chips were crumbs. This isn’t the la mesa I grew up with prompt service, fair prices, thoughtful food, and caring/fun staff. Truly a bummer. Positive feedback… the chicken nachos are still great.

We went on a Friday night and I think everyone in Omaha had the same idea. The first La Mesa we went to was closed for renovation. The 2nd La Mesa we went to we couldn't even get in the door to place our name. This was our 3rd chance and it was worth it! About a 20 min wait so not too long. My margarita was so good (paradise). My husband's was pretty strong and not a tasty. No one can go wrong with chips & salsa- so good. My husband's Burrito definitely could have been bigger for the cost but was still very filling. My enchilada alcapulco was so good!! The guac was amazing too.
