Unfortunately will not be returning to Tap House for future dining.
A group of us had been to this location several times before and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. On the last night we went, it was a Wednesday (several months ago) and we were handed the happy hour menu when seated. The waitress made sure we saw the specials at the bottom of the page, which included a sale on wings from 3pm-6pm on Wednesday evenings. We had been seated around 4:30pm.
The table ordered wings according to the advertised price and enjoyed our dinner. When the bill arrived we were confused as to why the ticket was for normal price when the wings were supposed to be at a happy hour price. We asked the waitress about it and even pointed out where the happy hour price was on the menu. She consulted the manager and eventually told us nothing could be done. We paid our ticket and left.
I called to speak to the manager when I got home. I tried to explain my situation on the phone and she interrupted me halfway through claiming to "know why I was calling" and that her answer was the same - nothing could be done. I asked her why the menus on the table were advertising a false price and she told me that the Wednesday wing special was supposed to have a piece of tape over it to cross it out. Furthermore, it was MY fault that I didn't notice that something had been scratched off - her exact words were "you can clearly tell that a piece of tape was here at one point" and that I should have known that it was supposed to be there (even though it never was). She continued on to say the price of wings is too expensive and her answer was final. I asked her to please remove the menus so other people don't get blindsided...

If I had one meal left before I died it would be this. This is my death row burger and fries. Or my “I’m going into labor and the hospital is only going to give me ice chips while I writhe around in pain so we’re stopping at Tap House first I don’t care if my water just broke don’t you dare argue with me about this” burger and fries. It’s glorious. And the only thing that would make this meal better is if Tap House had Coke products (fight me, it’s true).
My favorite meal after the amazingly perfect and memorable cheese curds? The “Berry Hungover Burger” with ranch fries.
A freshly formed beef patty marinated with blueberries and raspberry vinaigrette dressing topped with a crispy patty of cheesy hash browns, crispy brown sugar bacon, a fried egg, blueberry jalapeño jam, and American cheese, all on grilled blueberry bread with a side of seasoned ranch fries.
My modifications that push this over the edge: I also add peanut butter to the burger and get sides of mango habanero and ranch for dipping both the burger and fries. It’s definitely got some kick. But in all the best ways. The jam also makes your fingers pretty sticky so request extra napkins. But trust me when I say that it’s so worth it.
This is one of the few meals that even I’m uncomfortably full I will power through and finish it. If I ever leave any part of this burger or even a single stray ranch fry uneaten, just know that the person sitting at the table with you can in no way be me. She is an imposter. And she must go.
It is heaven. I will forever crave it. I already want one and I just had it....
