Returned recently for lunch. We sat at the bar and was served by Julio. Service was excellent. Did the quesadilla and burger with fries. Both were great for the price. Previous review: Newly opened, primos has a clean modern dining ambiance with solid food offerings. Along with their dining room, they have an absolutely beautiful patio, a bar area inside and another sitting area inside that I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like a cool place to hang out? I noticed a dart board there. Free chips and salsa is offered at the beginning of the meal, (I think for lunch and dinner) If you need a knife, ask for one? It isn't packaged with in the napkin but you just have to ask and they will bring it out. No decaf coffee yet. The food review is mostly for the latest breakfast that we went to. That just opened up for breakfast today. I recommend the Benedict. 5 stars The roja hollandaise sauce was on point. The flavor on the chilaquiles really grew on me. The sauce was a little acidic at first, but as I ate it the more I liked it. It's on my top to order. They do drown them in sauce. So if you're looking for something crispy it's not really that crispy. The omelet was a solid choice. Between the guac and bacon versus the primos, I choose the primos, but I am a saucy person. Both are good just I have a preference. The service at the council bluffs location was very professional and well-rounded whereas the center and 60th location you can tell they are still training. As they are new that's to be expected. Service was generally very friendly on the few occasions I dined in.

The food was wonderful! The service was good too. We came for a late lunch so our expectations were not too high. I would recommend getting any fajita, those were delicious, but the server wouldn't allow any kind of substitution which I thought was weird. The deals are worth looking into like a bucket of beer. The white cheese dip was also very good. Here is a little bit from their website: Family History The idea of Primo's Mexican Restaurant was born with the vision of three "primos" (cousins) who wanted to reawaken their family's recipes and bring back the taste of their family's delicious Mexican dishes. It all started with their Great Grandparents Luis and Carmen Rocha who were immigrants from Mexico and settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in a part that was referred to as the "South End". The Rocha family was large and it was typical to have family gatherings and celebrations and with these gatherings came home cooked Mexican food, which everyone raved about. In the late 50's, the Rocha's son, Johnny and his wife Lupe converted a small house into the first family restaurant called The Taco House. Over the years, The Taco House created wonderfully delicious food and great memories. The Taco House later closed its doors in the late 80's. This history of delicious Mexican food was recreated in 2010 when Primo's Mexican Restaurant was founded and brought to life. The 4th generation of the Rocha family brought an idea to reality and now the family and their passion for delicious Mexican food lives on.

My husband has been wanting to try this restaurant, and we were going to Baxter Arena close by for a concert and decided to stop in. It was a Friday night around 6 o’clock and this restaurant was fairly busy. The sign said please seat yourself, but there was a server standing by to see people accordingly. wWe had one server stop by to grab our drinks, and we ordered queso as an appetizer. A few minutes later, we had another server stop by to get our drink order as well. Then a third server stopped by with our drinks and delivered our queso. A few minutes later, another queso arrived for our table, which I wouldn’t usually complain because I love queso, but it was awkward. I felt like they were running around very unorganized. I went with the street tacos, and everything came out as I ordered. I went with a Carnita, Barbacoa, and the other pork option, but I can’t think of the fancy name for it. The meat was very flavorful, and there was a lot of meat on the tacos. Our server was very friendly, but we didn’t have fast service. We had asked for multiple things multiple times. Overall, I want to try the place again but maybe on a different weeknight or the weekend to see if the service is a little bit better.

I really don't leave reviews but after the experience me and my family had yesterday now is the time. We walked in and there was a couple of families waiting with large parties. This was to be expected considering it was Mother's Day and a graduation just finishing up the street. However, the dining area itself was not busy at all plenty of seating available.

About 5 minutes after getting seated the server who never introduced herself asked what we wanted to drink. We confirmed after all of this and reading the receipt that it was Alondra R. She already seemed like she did not want to be there but we all gave her grace and gave her our drink orders and after returning with our drinks we ordered the dip trio. The server had done refills after a good 10 minutes and said that it would be out in 2-3 minutes. When she brought the appetizer out she just sat it down and immediately walked off with no regard to whether it came out right. We then realized that it was wrong so we attempted to get the servers attention after about 10-15 minutes she comes back over and we let her know that part of the appetizer wasn't what we ordered and she acted as if we were a bother. This was the quickest she brought something to our table. After this the server rolled her eyes at us for asking for chips, she continued to rarely check on us but let us know that the kitchen was running behind and we totally understood that part. We did not understand the need for the attitude and complete rude remarks after we had been sitting there for over 1.5 hours with not even an ounce of customer service.

We eventually asked another server that walked by if she could talk to our server about having our meals put into to-go containers so we can just head out as it was getting late and we no longer wanted to deal with the behavior. Our server came back and stated that the food was just about finished and they would get it in containers right out to us. Another 10 minutes goes by and it seemed as if the server decided to send another server to our table to ask if we would be okay with them bringing the food out to the table because it's done and ready to come out. We explained to that server that she already told us that it was finishing up and she would get it in boxes and we declined her offer. We just wanted to go and let her know that the behavior was not appreciated from our actual server. At this point we asked for the manager and we were told that there was no manager there at all and there would not be one there until Tuesday.

To finish it all off the server brings out the receipt and my mother looks over it and decided to go the route of paying online using the QR code on the receipt. Let me remind you we still had not had the food out to the table at this point either. A few minutes later Alondra comes out the kitchen and asks if my mom was ready to pay and she let her know it was already taken care. Alondra responds rudely with "I have to make sure I am getting paid!".... again.... we don't even have our food at the table so the comment was uncalled for and out of pocket. The food was finally brought out in to-go boxes right after her comment.

It was not a bad environment, it was clean, the food menu had decent options but none of this matters when the customer service is not quality and you are treated poorly by...

Husband and I were heading for taco Tuesday roughly 6:30pm (date night in our household) talked about Jonesy's Taco House. They were super busy decided to try something new.

The problem with trying something new is that you get disappointed. Primos looks great from the outside, great parking, easy access, well designed. Looks like a great local restaurant. It should have been slammed and busy on a Tuesday.

We figured out why it was not! As pervious posters stated, waiting at the front to be seated. The host was in the back talking to the rest of the staff. We were seated, put our order in. Asked about queso (on the sides menu $3). Just wanted a side to eat with chips (assumed they were free), but asked and told no, but were brought chips like all the tables had.

Waiter said Queso came with chips ($8.99 on the appetizer menu), we did not need chips nor the additional cost of the chips. This seemed hard for them to understand. Still ordered the chips and queso (figured out that we could take chips home).

She brought out the chips and salsa (again we were confused) since she stated they were not free or included. We asked her to removed the chips and queso from the order. She stated that they already had made it (put it in a bowl) and brought it out, never got the chips that came with the queso that we had previously asked about. If the chips and queso are $8.99 and the Queso is $3 they are charging $5.99 for chips we did not receive and were charged for.

When we got our order the special of the evening it was a Chimichanga for $12.99, special at $10 for Tuesday evening. The food looked wonderful! It was cold. The cheese was not melted inside the tortilla and was hardly fried. The meat was cold but seasoned well on both meals.

While we were waiting on food there was yelling and hollering in the kitchen from the staff, it seemed like they did not have much to do.

By the time we had gotten through the queso mess and the cold food it was easier to ask for the check and to speak to a manager. I was told the manager had left at 6pm and was given a business card.

To say the least the meal was disappointing, the server did not know the menu or was very fresh to their job. Also you could not tell the staff from the patrons, staff was wearing what ever they wanted. If I were the owner I would take a page out of Jonesy's Taco House's book and do some great specials on Tuesday, the place would be packed the staff would be busy. There also needs be be a manager on staff at all times to protect the owners...

Our friend had his 4 year sobriety birthday today and we wanted to take him out for breakfast so we did and I was not very happy about the lady who served us she was very snippy and rude very unprofessional of the service we received and then she said in a very rude manner that just to give you a heads up that the next time you come in its all going to have to be put together...What that doesn't make sense so what happens if all of us has no cash .So sorry for being an inconvenience when all we wanted to do was eat somewhere nice but I guess it seems like a problem so am not entirely sure if we will ever be back and the only reason we will be coming back is the very nice person who apologized for her actions and I was just not happy with whatever vibe she had but it was very negative and uncomfortable for me and alot of them but unfortunately unlike me when you deal with alcoholics trying to find a way to make it in the world we live in now I'm disappointed that people are still like that and they don't want cayous in their lives anymore so yes I love them all like a family so I will protect them like they are my children from harm and negatively so maybe she had a bad day or a bad moment but I don't think I will ever have her serve us again other than that the food was amazing I just wished that she had a better attitude and maybe leave it by the door before she comes in to work I have been a kitchen manager for Caseys for more than 4 years and I never bring bad into my kitchen business because it brings down the moral of the crew members and I want anyone training under me to do what I ask them but learn and leave with a positive attitude and experience so thank you for your time...
