I was in about a month ago. My reviews are accurate and unbiased, with food experience world wide.

The price is a little steeper than I would like, but you do get your moneys worth. Pricing today is a difficult topic, you do get enough to make it a fair trade here which is always important when considering your restaurant options.

Quality is very good, presentation is nice. It is a different kind of food than you normally get around here, so you could be thrown off. One must always consider that not all food around the world is supposed to be the same. But they do have something for most people, so dont be scared off.

Be aware the kebabs are a little dry, compared to what we are used to, but authentically so which I appreciate. They are how they are supposed to be. We had a rice and lamb dish as well that the waiter recommended, really taking our questions seriously, spot on. This dish in contrast was not dry at all, it was how it was supposed to be.

This really feels like authentic Afghan food and is a great experience if your wanting to try something new. They have sitting rooms for larger groups. Everything about it was worth the visit.

I generally don't review service, more than if it was good or not but in this case I must.

The highlight of the visit was the young man who waited on us, one of the sons of the owner. Very nice, very honest and very excited to be doing the work that he was. We talked about his home country, the food, and really had quite a good conversation.

He asked about my thoughts on everything we had, and really wanted to have an honest take on it. I suggested they do a sampler trio so that people can try four or five dishes at a reasonable price to be introduced to the food.

I hope they implement it, he was very excited about it.

It was a great experience, make sure to try the green tea if...

This was my first venture into Afghan cuisine, and I enjoyed both of the meals I tried. Not every place in the area is open on Sundays, I was happy Shaheen’s is open 11 to 9. It’s a great location right in the middle of Benson on Maple, they have plenty of seats even for large groups and weren’t too busy since it was Sunday early evening. We ordered a takeaway of chicken ($19.50) and lamb ($20.75) kebobs, one with rice, the other with naan bread. Each came with tzatziki-style sauce, which tasted excellent. The wait for the food was about 25 minutes. The best part of the food was hands down the meat, the lamb especially was superb, the chicken and the basmati rice were great as well. The kebabs are on the spicier side, but there is a very good balance of spices, they definitely know what they are doing.

The only complaint I have food-wise is the naan. A lot of the dishes on the menu are in the $20-25 range, if you choose naan with your kebob instead of rice, you’d expect it to be fresh since it’s all you’re getting with the meat other than the sauce. The two pieces are definitely large, but to be completely honest, they felt very dry and stale. I’m not sure if that’s what it’s supposed to taste like, but my personal preference is on the softer and warm side. They also didn’t have rosh - one of the dishes I originally wanted to order (understandable since it’s probably something that takes a lot longer to make than a kebob), so I asked if there is anything else that’s not available and was told no. I chose the two kebobs and baghlawa instead. After I paid, they told me they didn’t have baghlawa lol I did get a refund for it tho.

Overall a good experience, it’s always nice to try dishes from...

My girlfriend and I recently moved to the benson area & we’ve been on the hunt for something delicious close by. This spot is it! It’s been a month since we decided to try it and we are already planning for our 4th visit! Not to be dramatic but the food is life changing! It’s bursting with flavors and no one dish is like the next. We try a new dish every time and have yet to face disappointment. Tonight the chicken karai was recommended, I got it without hesitation. I’m so pleased! The flavors I experienced is unexplainable. Let’s not forget to mention the customer service! They are patient in answering all your questions and spot on with suggestions. Ahmed (excuse any misspelling) has been wonderful every single visit! He’s hospitable, personable and knowledgeable about the flavors of the dishes offered. He makes the visit all the more pleasant! Overall, not to be dramatic or anything but we love Shaheens and will put our lives on the line for the chicken shami kabob. & the tzatziki sauce!! (they call it something else that I can’t remember they’ll know when you call it that lol) it takes whatever 5 star meal you have to the next level! It adds an amazing refreshing taste omg. I can’t...

Wow- I don’t even have words. This is literally the most delicious meal I have had all week. Possibly all year?! I got the chicken kebab with the side salad and oh my goodness- the chicken is seasoned to perfection, a perfect mix of spicy and savory- and OH so tender. Not a single second-guess bite or hesitation during this meal, literally just inhaled all of it. The rice is also good, the fries are awesome, and all of it goes down amazing with a nice glass of Pepsi. Side note- I had some of my mother’s lamb and… it might have been just as good as my chicken, if not better. Literally so tender it melts on your tongue. Absolutely phenomenal. The restaurant was clean, and the service was lovely. Our server was so friendly and welcoming and accommodating, he made the experience better too! Absolutely stupendous restaurant!

It was just my husband and I but they were nice enough to offer one of the group rooms with floor dining and it was so comfortable! Just like eating at home :) The hubby spent years in Afghani culture and eating their food, his exact words after eating the naan and karai was "It tastes like home." We were able to split one main course with naan and rice and still left food on the plate, we were so full! $30 for 2 people was way better than we expected. That included 2 teas (also amazing 👏🏿) and the pistachio kulfee which was SO creamy🍨 The waiter was so friendly and personable, the epitome of hospitality 🤌🏿 Him and his manager checked on us. I feel bad I didn't get their names but 10/10 recommend! We will definitely be back with our group of friends!
