I have lived in Omaha since 2008, and I’ve never had a burrito that replicated my childhood in Los Angeles. The first bite of my burrito quite literally took me back to dinners I’d have with my family at our kitchen table, rolling up burritos with the carne asada my dad had just took off the grill, the homemade refried beans and rice my mom made. We’d throw these burritos together and then dig into some ceviche too. Also reminded me of a few Mexican food places in LA my parents would take us to. There’s some good spots here in Omaha but I was really blown away and impressed at how good my food was. My husband has been talking about this place for so long and he wanted to bring me here for Valentine’s Day. I couldn’t not leave a review. While we were eating dinner I ended up going down memory lane and telling my husband about Olvera street in LA, the big swap meets I’d go to as a kid, eating fresh crab legs at San Pedro, and all the other cool little things I forgot I did as a kid. The burrito was more than just delicious it was nostalgic. And the owner was really nice and friendly. I’ll be back for more. I mean I need to try everything on the menu. I am pregnant with twins and they are ready to try the enchiladas next. Thanks for bringing a taste of...
Read moreI previously wrote a bad review and I removed it because I felt I had been a little harsh. I also still wanted to come in and get breakfast burritos and didn't want it to be awkward. Today I came in for my usual breakfast burrito. This was the exchange that I had:
Me: "I'd like to order a breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon please" Girl at counter: "We don't have sausage anymore. We only have chorizo." "Can I get ham then?" "We don't do ham anymore." "Ok I'll just do steak then"
She rings me up and I get my steak breakfast burrito and head home. As I sit down and open up my burrito I realize its just a regular burrito with beans and rice, not the eggs and pico I was expecting. I call the store to ask if there was a mistake.
"Hi I think I got the wrong burrito. I ordered a steak breakfast burrito but I got a regular one instead." "We don't do steak breakfast burritos anymore." "Ok... why didn't you say that when I was in the store ordering?" ".... (silence).... sorry"
I'm sorry guys. I gave it another chance. I really did. I found something that I liked and I came in multiple times a week but it keeps changing. I'm really sorry....
Read moreI got al pastor tacos and they weren't the best. The meat was a bit dry and not very well seasoned. Same with tamales. Horchata and churros were great though! The horchata wasn't overly sweet, which I like even though there was barely any cinnamon taste in it. Drinking the horchata here feels like you are drinking a water down rice milk that will fulfill your thirst. The churros were soft and chewy with lots of filling inside. I preferred caramel filling the most. The elote was also amazing and a lot in quantity compared to its price!
The place is clean and is decorated nicely, giving a tropical vibe. They have a section with long benches that seems perfect for big groups.
The employee was and nice. Since I did take out so there wasn't much interaction between us, but he was friendly.
I will come again to try the fish tacos, nachos, and burritos since those are what every other comment...
