The Down Under Lounge — Restaurant in Omaha

My first time at this establishment was to see some smaller touring bands with my wife. It is small dive bar but full of energy, the stage area was a raised platform on one end of the bar big enough to host the 5 piece band that was playing. Upon entering you are met with a mildewy smell to the air but it adds to the charm of the dive bar setting. The bar tenders were quick to get you your drinks and quite friendly. There is an ATM on site as well as two gender neutral bathrooms which were very clean. The bar double booked the stage the night we attended and my wife and I were not notified of this when we paid the initial door charge of $5 each which resulted in us having to pay an additional $5 each for the bands we were actually there to see, though this $10 additional charge didn't break the bank it was a minor annoyance that we were not told our initial payment was for a different live show. There is a small parking lot on-site but plenty of free street parking around the area. I recommend this place for live music as the mix was done well for all of the bands that night. They had tv screens playing fun movies and cartoons (Batman animated series and Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves). The place was pretty cool the bar tender didn’t charge for soda so I had her run my card for 20 bucks to give 10 to the bartender and 10 to the bar back but I ordered my Lyft at 130 and the female bartender was going to let me wait inside till the driver arrived but it was at 209 that a Lyft driver still wasn’t assigned but two gentlemen who work there but weren’t working that night just hanging out decided to make me wait out in the freezing cold while they and a regular or two stayed nice and warm listening to music hanging out sure they wanted to close up and go home I completely understand but I wasn’t hindering they’re progress I was just sitting in the corner I had to wait out in the Christmas kid for at least a half hour while they stayed warm I’m never...

I’m new to Omaha and don’t go out much. But if I did this would be the place I made my home!! I have been here twice and the second time the bartender remembered exactly what I ordered the last time. The staff is truly kind and amazing. The crowd is equally as welcoming. I take my son for open mic night and everyone is so amazing and supportive. It’s such a positive and uplifting atmosphere. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place, service is five star, so is the crowd and overall atmosphere....
