Uptown Java — Restaurant in Omaha

I gave this place 2 chances. My first time here, I ordered a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. I wasn’t in any hurry so the slowed service didn’t entirely bother me. But I remember sitting there waiting for my food, and I watched at least 3 people come in, walk up to the counter, stand there for about 30 seconds, then walk out. The barista was in the back, nowhere to be seen.

My second time here, I was in a bit of a rush so I thought it best to just order coffee. I waited over half an hour for a single latte. In their defense, there was a group of people that had arrived before me, all of which were waiting on food. The food stopped coming out and I still waited about 15 minutes before I walked back to the counter. The barista was nowhere to be seen. I heard laughter in the back and saw that they were have a great time in the kitchen, while neglecting their customers in the store. The barista finally saw me at the counter and ended the conversation. It took her less than a minute to make my drink. I simply did not understand why I had to wait over half an hour for the giggle fest to end before I could get my coffee and go.

Please do not focus on the patron review with 1 star. The person was at the store during it's opening weeks when unfortunately the espresso machine was broken, and the second time she refused the apology and the offer of free product from the barista.

What a transformation! The homemade pastries are beyond delicious, and their beverages are brewed to perfection. This afternoon, I came in for a simple oatmilk caramel latte with a friend. No one else in the shop. It took soooo long to be made. Barista had no idea what the food was, kept asking what the drinks were supposed to be. Which is all pretty normal, although not great. The low rating is for the insane diarrhea I have right now because you did NOT make my drink with a dairy substitute, but with milk or heavy cream or something.
