I used to come here a lot, but the service and the food has greatly declined.
Tonight, my family and I went in. They only had half the restaurant open and only had maybe 2 servers. Which I get, staffing issues arise. By the time we were seated (after a 30 minute wait) there was only 5 tables of people, including ours. We waited close to 45 mins for our food (we were a table of 6, another table of 5, and 3 tables of 2 in the entire restaurant) 45 mins seemed extreme, considering when the food came it was only for 3 of the people. The chicken strips ordered for my god daughter were so burnt, and hard. You couldn’t even break the apart. We brought it up but were told “oh those aren’t our normal chicken strips”. Like, okay? But they aren’t even edible.
The food for another member of our party wasn’t even what she ordered, but had to re order what she originally ordered to be “added to the bill”. The kicker of it was my husbands hamburger had several long, blond hairs cooked into the meat.
At this point, with the long wait for only half the food, the burned food (who brings out food that looks like that and thinks it’s okay to eat?) and the hairy hamburger we just left and went next door to taco John’s.
There was no apology, just weird excuses on why things went the way they went. If you don’t have your normal items, why let people order it? Maybe give a heads up that you’ve had to substitute items to make it work and it won’t be the same.
It was just a bad...
Read moreI want to be clear that our waitress Debbie was doing her absolute best, but boy are we disappointed. We arrived at 7 and didn't order until after 730. The person who seated us didn't let Debbie know we existed. When the food came our kids food was done well, but my wife and I were served small portions of meat, burnt bacon, and undercooked potatoes. Debbie made sure that was rectified in between handling the entire restaurant by herself. I'm not sure who was in charge, but they absolutely failed us, Debbie, and every other customer there. I don't think I have ever seen this level of incompetence in management with one solitary waitress working her butt off to make up for all of her coworkers shortcomings, usually they quit and take that talent and care somewhere else. The ship was sinking and Debbie was the only one bailing water out of the boat. Debbie, I'm so sorry you have to deal with coworkers that are that rude. We heard lots as you fought for us in the kitchen. I can't believe how well you handled doing everything by yourself while everyone else seemed to be too busy to help you. Unfortunately, we won't be back to see Debbie, at least not at Village Inn. She will probably end up at one of the other great restaurants in town that don't hang their staff out to dry. I'm going to recommend that everyone avoid these restaurants in general, but specifically this location. Avoid at all costs and if you find yourself here, only get...
