Love this place..I'm part of the "Counter Culture". Nice owners, wait staff and cooks! It's an American Style Café...several steps up from Denny's type...privately owned. The cooks will make you ANYTHING if they have the ingredients, like SPINACH salad or steamed ( not on menu but they will make it!) Great HOME FRIES! NOT a "GOURMET PLACE"...just "down home food" and plenty for the price. Not a "diet place", however they do have salads and fresh fruit and sugar free syrup, egg beaters, cottage chees etc. . LOTS of "OVER 50 CUSTOMERS", but weekends are FOR FAMILIES! The BEST BREAKFASTS at the best prices. Try a FRITTATA OMLETTE! You can sub the sausage for bacon or ham. Great home-made MEXICAN SALSA made fresh daily. Home made soups are better than many. GREAT CLAM CHOWDER on Fridays. They make a decent Eggs Benedict also and the PORK CHOPS ARE GREAT...( not dried out!). For dinner try the SALMON or POT ROAST. Old fashioned TAPIOCA is good too! ( Clean...
Read moreWe decided to go to Joanne's Cafe for our late lunch. The building and inside is old school (homey and very comfortable).
We were greeted with a friendly, courteous man. We were seated quickly too. There was no wait. He asked for our drink order right away. A few minutes later, Lety our server came for our order. I ordered their club sandwich which was deliciously fresh. It had ham, bacon, turkey, lettuce tomatoes and mayo. Everything was fresh. For a $1 more you can order fried zucchini.
Honey had their steak sandwich. It was to your order. It was fresh and a great sandwich.
Staff kept on filling your drinks while you wait for your order. Even when the order came, the staff kept on coming back to fill your drinks. Staff is polite, courteous, very funny and friendly. We plan to try the breakfasts very soon.
I would recommend this place.
UPDATE: the breakfasts are large. ...
Read moreWe came because of the reviews, but we try to go to restaurants we high reviews and this one far exceeds the rest. We showed up at 10:30 on a Sunday and with the line out front we expected a 30+ minute wait it was like 10 minutes. Even though this place closes at 3pm there is a full menu. Our waitress Gigi was clearly busy, but came to table and introduced herself. She was kind and smiled, welcoming us. We met people who heard we were JoAnne newbies and explained that they were 2nd generation diners. If you are looking for a great place to eat with that Sunday diner kinda feel don’t hesitate to visit - We live in Seal Beach and it was worth every Mike it took to get here. We’ll be back. Thanks for all the intention that goes into being a place you want to...
