Kelly's Diner — Restaurant in Opelousas

Kelly's Diner has been keeping me well-fed with purchases of plate lunches for AT LEAST EIGHTEEN YEARS NOW! 🍲

My 80 year old father is a widow now, and we are buying him the plate lunches, and he LOVES everything he has eaten from Kelly's, too.

Everyone in my family agrees that Kelly's has the best rice-and-gravy possibly in all of Acadiana. No matter the meat, that gravy is always PERFECT!

Personally, their stuffed pork chop plate lunch, their field peas and black eyed peas, and BBQ Chicken are some of my favorites!!!

The potato salad is the best I've had, too. It really is food like maw-maw would be cooking. 😂

Thank you, Kelly's Diner Staff! The cooks are AMAZING! The attendants are friendly and try to be as helpful as they can.

Oh...there is only one thing I don't really like: their sausage in the red beans and the sausage Creole meal is VERY coarse. It doesn't taste good to me at all. It tastes like unseasoned coarse deer meat that hasn't been mixed with any...

Nice little place to get a good homecooked meal (platelunch). Busy on Sundays but the move people through pretty quick and efficiently. The food is pretty good and well seasoned. Although they are moderately priced you do get an honest sized portion out of it. I recently had their roast beef and rice gravy lunch along and their bbq pork steak and rice dressing. Both were well cooked and hot and ready to go when we received them. Like everything else the price has gone up over the years but I can't blame them. I will be back. Their diner area (for eating in) is refreshed and tidy. Although not very large, it seems that there is always at least a few seats available as alot of people...

I just want to know what rock have I been living under in the past 39 years!?!? I’m from Opelousas and visit the meat market all of the time (which has the best smoked ribs ever)....but today I was introduced to the Double Cajun Cheeseburger! Omg...it was made to order! Hot and Fresh! Super Juicy and Wonderful! Kind of spicy...Very tasty...not to mention super cheap!
