Tropi Shack — Restaurant in Orange City

These are nowhere close to being the best cuban sandwiches. I don't even consider them to be legitimate cubans. They are good sandwiches if you just want a sandwich. If you love cubans I definitely recommend going with a significantly altered version and don't allow yourself to compare it to the real thing. Your just getting a sandwich. If you order a regular cuban and have experience with legitimate delicious cuban sandwiches you will be disappointed. The rice and beans are decent. I go here because it is an extremely not-fancy place near blue springs. You can eat outside on a shaded picnic table. It's a good stop on the way from an outdoor adventure where you don't feel comfortable going into a nicer restaurant without going home to change first. They even have some beat up toddler toys scattered around the area for kids to play with. That is awsome! The prices are not very good but I order the biggest size and make multiple meals of it to increase the value. The ice cream sundays are a great treat on a hot day. I absolutely do recommend this place... just be realistic about the claims they make. This is Deland not Tampa or Miami. The weird toppings make theirs fun and different but a lot of restaurants even in their area have better regular...

Oh Tropi Shack.... how I wish you were in GA. I was down visiting my mom and she wanted a sandwich. I looked around and noticed the tropi shack was near her place and I figured we'd love to get some Cuban sandwiches. My mom stayed in and I went in to order some to go food. I ordered my mom the #1 which is a Cuban and I orderes the #5 which is a mixed Cuban... it's like the usual Cuban but they also add salami and pepperoni. These sandwiches are perfectly pressed and made, my gosh!!! The bread, the meats, the mayo and mustard along with the perfectly placed pickles, it's all perfect. We also got some tres leches dessert which was pretty good, but the sandwiches are the stars of the show at this place. By the way, the service was very friendly and they packaged the to go food very neatly. We also got some rice and black beans which were full of flavor, not your typical rice and beans.
