Well, I've tried this place out a couple times already. 1st time I came, they told me they were closed. That the hours on Google were not correct, I politely said they should update it so as people do not make the trip for nothing. Drove out from an hour away to try it. Then when I came back to try the empanadas. I ended up getting sick. Either food poisoning I think but it made me and my wife sick. They tasted as if they were fried in old oil and tasted burnt. Sadly I did not eat them on location, but took them to go and ate them as I left. I figured I'd give them another chance, and I did. I can surely say I won't be returning to this establishment. The service was lacking and the waiter was not attentive to us. After taking the order and bringing food out. We were not approached once to ask if everything was ok or if anything else was needed. I just finished eating and will wait to see if I end up sick again tonight or not. Truth be told, the food was nothing really to brag about. I gave them an opportunity to redeem themselves in my book, but they failed.
Also noticed a waitress not keeping with social distancing hugging clients as they left. I know this is a regular tradition in Latin culture, but given the times we are in. She should be more cautious.
Update: I did end up getting sick that night. After reading the reviews left for the restaurant. I'm confused if somewhere along the way it changed owners and Adela is not part of it because I've not seen her at the restaurant. Or I don't know what's going on. But this place does not earn 5 star reviews with the food and service unless the patrons like eating nasty food. I will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone. Even the chocolates they sell from Colombia is old. I opened one and it was all whiteish and moldy. Have they no shame on selling things that are harmful to you?
11/6/2020: Primero, yo me llamo Manuel, no Miguel.
Read moreHere, I had 1 of the worst restaurant experiences ever! We arrived at "Donde Adela's" at around 7pm today & ordered our food at 7:14pm. We didn't get our food until 8:15 pm and it was barely cooked!! 1 entire hour later! We were obviously not happy at all and let the so called "manager" which was also our server, Josue know about this in a nice way. Instead of him giving us better service, he was very rude and unprofessional which I want to describe on here but it would take so much time to do so. He purposely made us wait that long hour because he was trying to upsell. He offered us appetizers but we didn't want any so he put our order until the very end of the line. It's all about how much money you'll spend here, although their prices are expensive as it is. Anyway, right when we got up to tell him we were leaving, after the ridiculous 1 hour wait, he finally brought out to us, that nasty, not well cooked food. Just terrible! We are never going there again! At the end this Josue guy was hiding from us, he sent some cook from the back to give us our full bill. This food got my party and I very sick! Don't trust Josue with your food! Eat here at your own risk but you've been warned. Terrible service, bad food and the manager is very untrustworthy!
Read moreWe get there and Josue begins as being friendly and welcoming. He offers their Refajo which is A traditional Colombian cocktail made with Colombiana and beer. He brings out a pitcher and two glasses filled with the drink and two empty glasses after I had told him that we only needed 3. When I get the bill he charged $32 for this pitcher and the two glasses claiming that he used 5 beers to make it. BS!! As a Colombian I have drank many refajos to know that the one he made clearly did not have 5 beers in it. I have never paid so much for this drink in any of the many Colombian restaurants that I have been too. Trying to play me for an idiot, being deceived and then speaking to me in a condescending tone by saying to me âmi amorâ (not having any relation to him) as he tried to justify the outrageous charge was not appreciated. It was disheartening that our friends who we were taking for the first time to a Colombian restaurant had to witness such poor character and service. There are other reviews here that seem to have had similar experiences, I should have read into them more carefully about the attempt to up-sell and poor service. The food is fine but Do Not get ripped off by ordering Refajo and ask what they charge for anything thatâs not on the menu before you order. Or better yet, save the trouble and go...
