Tonight I got paid and went out. Went to sign burger to grab a bite. I ordered the loaded fries. They were really good. The portion was just right for me. Taste was on point. It was bomb. When I went back to the bar, I grabbed for my wallet to get another drink and it wasn't there. I jammed back to signs, hoping I didnt drop it at the bar. When I walked in I asked if they had seen it. An angel who was dressed as an employee asked me a series of questions describing the wallet. She was thorough in her questioning. When she was quite certain that I was the owner, she said yes we do have it come on let me go get it. When she comes back with a wallet I let out an audible sigh of relief. She assured me that she didnt open it. She said she wanted to respect my privacy. I opened it up and all was there. I slapped a $20 on the counter and thanked her. She refused the money. She said she didnt want it. I tried again and she said no. I asked her what her name is and she said savannah, or maybe it was Sabrina. Definitely one of those two names. Thin girl with glasses. Sweet as can be. All the other staff was awesome too, but savannah saved the day. My whole cashed check, minus loaded fries and a couple drinks was still in my wallet the exact way I left it. Savannah, restoring my faith in humanity and made me an instant life long fan of Sign Smashburgers. Thank you again. Dont lose this side of you. We need more good people...

With a few Smash Burger joints spaced out around the OC, Sign Smash Burger, opening a couple of months ago, fills a spot on a busy stretch of Chapman Avenue. If you're in the area, give Sign a try.
The menu is simple, with a few options of smash burgers with some customizable ingredients and add-ons. For my first burger here, I enjoyed the Signature Smash--a double-patty burger topped with jalapeño, grilled smashed onions, Sign sauce, and both crispy and melted cheese. The beef patties had the nice crispy edges, were seasoned just right, and were not overly salty. The Hawaiian buns and house sauce added a hint of sweetness to every bite.
The burger is on the smaller size, as with most smash burgers, compared to a regular burger. You may want to get multiple patties to fill you up. The prices are fairly competitive compared to other places.
The fries were average, but perfectly fried, hot, and crispy. I'll have to give the loaded fries a try next time.
Shakes, fountain drinks, and bottled water are available. Request refills on fountain drinks through the staff, as the dispensers are located behind the counter.
The staff was friendly and worked hard through a busy lunch crowd. The dining area is clean and medium-sized, with a few tables and no outdoor seating. I didn't see a bathroom.
The parking lot is small, but there are plenty of parking spaces across the...
Read moreIt's a small, cute place with limited parking (street parking available ), but every single effort is worth it. Excellent and kind service, busy, of course. Like I said, if food and service are good, then nothing else matters. We went on Friday night (12 people) and held half of the tables with chairs (sorry, but it was a birthday celebration) The people who work there are very understanding and kind. We promised we would clean up and put everything back where it belonged, and we did. This place is (like except halal) In-N-Out's simple menu, burger or cheeseburger, but their signature burger (custom-made) is the winner. I ordered without cheese, light grilled onions with extra sauce on the side, and, of course, extra jalapenos on the side. Fries can be ordered loaded (animal style) or regular. Drinks simple reg or diet, but I ordered a vanilla milkshake. Every bite was delicious and fresh. If I visit OC next time, I would love to visit again and again. Thanks to everyone who works very hard and keeps smiling. Best...
