I am a Chick-fil-A Red member headed to 22k life points, so, yes, I am a fan of Chick-fil-A. I have been spoiled by the superb service, fresh, delicious food of Chick-fil-A for many years! Awesome drive thru that I call the fast lane even when the lines are hanging into the street! The Orangeburg SC Chick-fil-A is a big let-down. It fails to meet the caliber that Chick-fil-A is known for. It's even worst than your average hamburger fast food joint! So those of you traveling I-26 between Columbia and Charleston, chart your trip to make sure you don't stop at the Orangeburg exit for Chick-fil-A - find the one before or after! Here's why... On too many occasions the folk at the drive thru are less than courteous, but tonight we were met with with outright rudeness. A female at the drive thru window wearing a badge with the name Gambler on it did not even treat us with human respect! She snapped at us, demanding to see our bag when we kindly advised we did not receive all our condiments, which we specifically asked for when we placed our order. This female treated us as though she thought we were lying! Then she flippantly dismissed us telling us just drive up there! We got out of her way as she directed us but she was so shockingly rude, we did not even get a chance to finish looking through our bags! She made us get out of line, did not ask us, and with such a harsh tone and uncomely snarl! I have never experienced anything like this at a Chick-fil-A establishment and no one should. So I admonish you to continue on down the road until you get to another Chick-fil-A. Don't spend your money where people don't care about providing the customer service Chick-fil-A is know for. If I go back or find out they have improved, I will make an update. But I'll need to know that the Gambler name badge wearer went through customer service training and has made a remarkable improvement or been fired before I make a remarkable comment here about Orangeburg SC Chick-fil-A.
12/29/22 edit I just received a phone call this morning from Wayne Murphy, owner of this Chick-fil-A after he retrieved my voicemail about my ongoing experience with this location. I am impressed first of all, that he cared enough to call! We discussed my concerns and he voiced his commitment to align with Chick-fil-A Corp standards - he is working on his staff of new employees so there should be some remarkable turnaround of customer service! Go Orangeburg Chick-fil-A! I'm...
Read moreVisited Friday night, they were "out" of lemonade at ~7 PM. (How does that even work? So you didn't order enough lemons? I mean, surely your truck isn't delivering ingredients on Saturdays, so you ran out of lemonade for potentially days? Really?) Seemed like an excuse to not make more that evening.
The lady who finished taking our order in the drive thru was fine, just very quick and matter-of-fact, which was ok, but she forgot to ask if we wanted sauce, and so did we (it's a lot remembering to order everything [without a menu to look at] for a family of 6 in a busy line). When we got to the window, the lady handing out bags was very unfriendly, and acted like she didn't want to be there anymore. She handed me three big bags and as we were setting those down she says "ma'am" because she wanted us to immediately grab the two drinks as well. Umm, can we have like two seconds to set our bags somewhere and free up a hand? Wow. So then, I said 'the lady that took our order forgot to ask, can we please have some sauces.' And this is where it really took a turn, she turned around to the window and said nothing. The lady inside the drive thru window heard us, so she asked her, what sauces do they want, and she replied, "I don't know just give her one of each." I said 'no, I want 10 Chick-fil-A sauces, and 10 ketchup packets.' The lady had an astonished look on her face. What did she expect? That was rude. I ordered $50+ worth of food, including 8 nuggets, four sandwiches, a salad, four L fries, and two drinks. The least they could do is be friendly and give us sauces without attitude.
They proceeded to give us 6 CFA sauce and 4 ketchup packets. 🙄
This employee does not need to work directly with customers anymore if this is her standard attitude.
To top it off, the work area outside the drive thru window was disgusting and nobody had cleaned it. The restrooms inside were also messy and dirty.
I understand that it can get busy, but there were no less than 6-8 employees working just the drive-thru plus lobby employees and the cooks. That's not short-staffing, that's poor training and delegating of tasks which speaks to a management problem.
I will never go back to this Chick-fil-A in Orangeburg.
(Note, did not interact with the employee in this photo, she walked...
Read moreI am really saddened by the decline in Chick-fil-A in general. I have been coming to this location for about 2 years much of that during the pandemic and certainly feel like I have been plenty understanding with the pandemic. The attitude at this particular store is consistently unprofessional though and does not meet the expectations that I have of other Chick-fil-A's. At this point it is very clear to me that this location just doesn't care about its customers though. The customer service is horrendous and everything about the restaurant at this point communicates a big bug off to the customers that the employees are what matters and not the customers and that customers are just in the way and a nuisance rather than the purpose for existing. Most of that is in the attitude, I've gotten better customer service at McDonald's before and I haven't been back to this location in a while because of some of the issues, one of which was so bad that even a supervisor was so rude that I walked out the last time I was here. Now they have partitioned off even more of their dining room for employee only areas, still don't have the play area open for families, and now apparently they're all so limiting you to two sauces. I ordered a 10-count chicken mini for breakfast and I'm only allowed to have two sauces, this is absolutely ridiculous and a big screw off to all the customers. As further evidence the bathrooms are filthy for a chick-fil-a, not bad for a truck stop but filthy for a Chick-fil-A clearly they don't care and have no standards anymore, couldn't even get paper towels after washing my hands, see the pictures to know that I'm not just being nitpick either is dust and...
