Wow, the food is terrific so don't let the other stuff bother you, as in there not being enough help (affecting every restaurant in town) and limited seating and often no last-minute space (make reservations!!!). When we talked to the owner, she was disappointed that she didn't have enough help to open the outdoor section, and that she was trying her best to get everyone in on time (our reservation was right on the dot), even the take-out orders. That said, let's jump right into the meat of things, so to speak. The sangria is made fresh daily and brought in (my friend loved it, even after being told it was quite sweet, which is was), and the chef trained throughout Mexico and is VERY picky about his recipes and that they are adhered to...it shows! This isn't your ordinary "americanized" Mexican food; the food is pleasantly authentic, from the mole dishes to the fish tacos (3 in an order). People around us loved their margaritas and one customer we bumped into on our way out was back again to order the pork-filled chile verde he enjoyed here the day before, among the best he's had he told us. All in all, we had a great meal that was quickly delivered with not a hint of being short-handed, even if it was obvious that they were. Make time for this place...and reserve your spot (reservations almost mandatory). Or better yet, apply for a job here and get a great meal each time you work...

My wife and I were on Orcas Island with a friend of ours. Looking for dinner before catching the ferry back to Anacortes, we stumbled upon Mijitas as we were perusing Google. What a godsend! First, eating outdoors in their beautiful patio was just sublime. The weather was incredible (around 68* when we ate on 5/15/21) and the ambiance was a delight. Second, the food. Holy relleno! We're relleno enthusiasts and the cheese and mushroom filling at Mijitas sets the bar. The relleno was perfect- slightly crisp exterior despite the sauce, delicious poblano pepper, and the incredible cheese that constantly delights the tastebuds. Our server was fantastic and really did a great job despite being full. What a great experience and even though we live 2.5hrs away, like the Terminator, we'll be back!

We had a 6 PM reservation Saturday in June that happened to coincide with the high school graduation. We saw there were several families dining together. We were seated outside pretty swiftly, but it took quite some time for the servers to even bring us water and then chips & salsa. We do understand it was a busy weekend and evening, so no worries! When the food was delivered, it was absolutely worth it - as my salad with grilled chicken was absolutely delicious. Very fresh ingredients and the chicken had a delightful flavor. My husband enjoyed his tacos meal as well. For the food - this is a definite go-to! Just make sure you make a reservation (as during our stay they were quoting one hour wait to walk ups) and if it is a busy evening, just be a little patient with service.

During my recent visit to Orcas Island, Washington, I had the pleasure of dining at Mijitas Mexican Kitchen, and I must say it was an absolute delight. This hidden gem surprised me with its authentic Mexican flavors, showcasing that great Mexican cuisine can be found even in the farthest corners of the continental United States.

What struck me immediately upon entering Mijitas Mexican Kitchen was the absence of the typical Americanized Tex-Mex fare. Instead, the menu focused on genuine Mexican dishes, ensuring a truly authentic culinary experience. It was refreshing to see a restaurant that deviates from the typical burritos and taco shells and instead presents a range of dishes that capture the essence of Mexican cuisine.

The flavors at Mijitas were nothing short of excellent. Each dish was carefully crafted, showcasing the rich and vibrant spices that are synonymous with Mexican cooking. From traditional mole sauces to salsas bursting with freshness, every bite transported me to the heart of Mexico. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the food was commendable, leaving a lasting impression on my taste buds.

The authenticity of the cuisine at Mijitas Mexican Kitchen is a testament to their dedication to providing an outstanding dining experience. The flavors, aromas, and textures all evoked the true essence of Mexican culinary traditions. It's a testament to the skill and passion of the chefs who clearly understand the art of Mexican cuisine.

Beyond the exceptional food, the overall dining experience at Mijitas Mexican Kitchen was delightful. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a welcoming staff that provided attentive and friendly service. The restaurant's commitment to creating an authentic Mexican atmosphere added to the overall charm of the dining experience.

In conclusion, if you find yourself on Orcas Island, Washington, and craving authentic Mexican cuisine, Mijitas Mexican Kitchen is an absolute must-visit. Its departure from the typical Americanized Mexican dishes sets it apart, offering a truly memorable dining experience. The flavors, quality, and attention to detail surpassed my expectations, and I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a taste of Mexico in an...

I ate here once before, and it was great. So, I decided to bring my family here after I told them all how great it was, but sadly, we had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant ever. The service was HORRIBLE. We were treated like an inconvenience. We felt unwanted. If your a party of 6 or more, your gonna feel cramped! It’s a small cramped establishment. Our food was good! But the service, was literally the worst we’ve ever experienced at a restaurant, and as a foodie, I know good service and bad service. This…was HORRIBLE service. Asked for more chips, never got them….We stepped away from the table for 1 minute, while our older teenagers stayed at the table and all of our drinks had been taken and the table cleared even tho we weren’t done, as we even ordered more food and deserts and we’re waiting for them!?!?! When we said something, they brought us the wrong drinks!? Not the ones that had been cleared. And Didn’t even apologize. We never had anyone ask us if we needed refills. . . We waited forever to even see our waitress and by the time we saw her our entire meal was done, so there was no point to get a refill or get the limes we needed 45 minutes prior. Our waitress was really non existent. She took our order, and she handed us the bill, that was it. To add insult to injury, a 25% “Mandatory Gratuity” was added to our bill, just because we were a party of 8….even tho the service was non existent. Punished for being a family!?!? At a restaurant with non existent service. We’re not the only ones who have said this about this restaurant, read the reviews. Others have also seen that there is HORRID service here. If this restaurant doesn’t want to fix this issue, then they need to remove the mandatory gratuity!! Cus that’s not right, to have non Existent service, yet charge a mandatory gratuity. A $315 bill, a bunch of upset ppl and I feel pretty robbed of an experience. I had to personally apologize to my entire family after I hyped up this restaurant prior to eating here. Sure, the food was good…but between the staff making us feel like an inconvenience, like they wanted us in and out as fast as possible, non existent service and a mandatory gratuity for…nothing!? And I can’t ever come back here. I...
