Who else likes discovering new restaurants? I'd heard of @rivers.edge.grants.pass.or in the past but we'd never gone for lunch or dinner because honestly it never sounded appealing to us. Well, this last weekend I was invited out to do a menu tasting of their newest seasonal menu coming out in the next couple of weeks and now I can't wait to take the family over for lunch or dinner! First things first. In spring 2021 they got new owners that completely revamped their food and cocktails, starting over with a farm to table mindset. They source their ingredients as local as possible, scratch making every dish, and handcrafting their cocktails. Their wine selection is extensive, supporting lots of wineries as well as offering wines you may not be able to find anywhere else in southern Oregon such as Caymus, Quilceda Creek, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Duckhorn among others! Call ahead and they will cork your wine for you to be ready when you arrive! Secondly, their location is absolutely gorgeous! They are located right on the Rogue River with a beautiful, large outdoor seating area that will be especially stunning in the spring. Their dining room is still in the works to be remodeled but it is nice and cozy with lots of booths and a nice bar with great views of the river also. It's definitely a great spot for date night and special occasions, or even just a casual lunch out. Their whole menu is fantastic, but my five favorite items are pictured.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at River's Edge Restaurant and indulging in their steelhead fish dinner. From start to finish, the experience was simply delightful. The restaurant's scenic location along the river added to the ambiance, while the attentive and friendly staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the steelhead fish dinner. It was absolute perfection! The fish was incredibly fresh, cooked to perfection, and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The flavors were well-balanced and complemented by a delicious lemon butter sauce that elevated the overall dish. The portion size was generous, and it was served with a side of perfectly cooked vegetables and fluffy mashed potatoes. I highly recommend the steelhead fish dinner at River's Edge Restaurant to all seafood lovers. You won't be disappointed by the quality, taste, and presentation. It truly surpassed my expectations and left me wanting more.

I'm just visiting town but this could easily be the best restaurant in town. The ambiance in general was spectacular. The restaurant is right on the river and you can hear the sound of the water hitting the rocks nearby. The view is spectacular and at the right times of the year you can watch the sun setting downstream. The meat was cooked to perfection. They were running a special on lobster tail that was excellent. They had a pork belly appetizer that was a really fun and interesting experience. You won't find it many other places. It was covered in a chocolate hoisin sauce with coleslaw on top and tzatziki sauce. Not what I would consider a normal or average conglomeration of flavors, but it worked extremely well together. And they have an excellent selection of alcohol and mixed drinks, including a decent wine list. That's a good thing. I don't live here because I'd be eating at this restaurant on a regular basis.

I gave a 1 star review even though we have enjoyed this restaurant a couple times before.

Food and service is good to very good typically. Sorry for the long review, but hopefully it's worth it.

In March of this year (2017), with our son's mother in law here for a visit, something happened that is really quite unbelievable. Just the same, it did. I'm not remotely overstating this episode. If it were not such a health issue, it would truly be comedic.

With the 5 of us outside overlooking the Rogue, enjoying beverages early on; a live chicken (that lived next door, among others), kept jumping over the short fence that abutted the two properties; onto the patio and walking around our feet.). The staff picked it up 3-4 times and returned it over the balcony to their neighbor, where it belonged. My son captured it another 2 times and put it back when nobody was staff was present.

This situation went from cute to disgusting quickly. After our food was served, the chicken again made an appearance. We were eating so we didn't notice. When Janet did notice, the hen suddenly flew up onto our table, began eating Janet's Macaroni and cheese, and immersed her tail feathers in my son's beer, nearly knocking over the glass. After getting it off the table, she promptly deficated all around our feet.

I (very nicely), explained to the Manager (a woman who's name I do not recall and would not come to the table, I had to go inside to speak with her), that this was a pretty nasty experience, and surely a potential Health Department issue. (Not that we had any intentions of contacting the health department, but I said it 'on behalf of the restaurant' because other clients were put off as well, although they did not suffer the same events we did.

We all lost our appetites despite the fact they brought fresh Macaroni and cheese.

If ever in my 63 years a restaurant 'should' have "comped a meal", this was probably it. But I did not ask, nor did she have any intention of offering. And of course it's not about the money, it's about doing the right thing. Our eating area went to smelly and disgusting fast.

This Manager showed no class I'm sorry to say. Eventually, they captured the chicken one last time and trapped it under a milk crate, and left it there on the patio with other clientele in the vicinity.

My wife and I have 31 chickens. Great animals. We donate eggs to the food bank regularly and my wife cares for these animals with more TLC than you can imagine. But as she said, "The only chickens on my dinner table, have typically been cleaned, marinated and...

One of the most ridiculously awful experiences I've EVER had at a restaurant. Made an advance reservation here for our anniversary, requested a water front table. This restaurant is about a 35 minute drive for us from our house, but worth it (we thought) to try somewhere new and that gets great reviews online and looks to have a beautiful setting. While we were seated outside as requested, our two table options were either next to the bussing station or tucked in the corner with a limited view, so we chose the corner table. By the time a waitress came to take our orders, about 15 minutes later, I already overheard other wait staff telling customers that they were out of several items on the limited menu. That's fine we figured, we're easygoing, our only limitation being that my husband is a vegetarian. We ordered drinks and a salad, and tried to put in our entree orders only to be told that they were out of the only vegetarian entrees on the menu. The waitress said she'd check with the kitchen to see what they could come up with and in the meantime would grab our drinks. The response from the kitchen was that the signature vegetarian dish was cold pasta with olive oil, peprocini, olives and carrots served over a bed of lettuce. Maybe that sounds delicious to someone, but to us that sounded like leftover pasta which had likely been a side for something previously and was being poorly repurposed into a lackluster vegetarian offering. Still trying to roll with it, we thought maybe he could just have a salad and I would order an entree- only to learn that they were out of the two items I wanted to order on the menu. We finally gave up and decided to just order drinks and try to find somewhere else to get dinner. We'd now wasted almost an hour and had no food. I expressed to the waitress that this was our anniversary and we were pretty disappointed to have this experience, and that we seemed to have poor luck choosing restaurants for our anniversary celebration. She suggested that if we are good cooks, maybe we try cooking at home. So that's how that went. $32 for two drinks and a wasted hour of our lives. I would NEVER return to this restaurant. Horrendous customer service and clearly ill-prepared for dinner service on a...

Server was TERRIBLE!! I would give a 1 star for the server.

When we were seated, no cutlery or napkins, when we ordered drinks, my wife ordered a "top shelf" margarita only to be corrected by our server to refer to our drink menu (that we never received) that they could be as high as $125.00. We have just recently moved back from New York City after 15 years there...high priced drinks aren't unusual, but most servers always provided us with a cocktail menu. Had we been provided a cocktail menu, we wouldn't have been subjected to the condescending tone of our servers voice.

Our appetizers of steamed clams were delicious, however being a table of four, we didn't have individual plates to serve ourselves. My wife had to ask a bus boy for cutlery and small plates for the appetizers as our server was nowhere to be found. My wife ordered a "top shelf" margarita without salt, it comes to the table WITH SALT. When we mentioned that it was ordered without salt, he acted like it was "our fault." Two of the four in our party ordered filet mignon "rare" and it came out like leather. We sent it back and he just blamed the "new chef." 45 minutes later (after the other three in the party had eaten) the new filet shows up. By that time...we had all eaten and shared our meals as we felt it rude for us to eat while she waited to another filet to show up.

The food was decent and priced OK, but the server we had was TERRIBLE and should not be working with the public. We were told this was the "BEST STEAKHOUSE" in all of Southern Oregon and it would have been a great experience if we had a good server...not even a fantastic server, just a good one. The least they could have done was to have not charged us for the second filet that came out 45 minutes later, but no. I'm sorry to say this restaurant needs to "upgrade" to a better server and we would have had a much better experience. Too bad the server wasn't better as over half of your dining experience determines whether or not one...
