Okay, I am rather opinionated about this particular restaurant and the way that it is reviewed. But if you want the low-down honest truth of it, here’s how it is;
First off, it has some of the freshest seafood one can find on the Oregon coast outside of a warf. You go there, you order seafood. Do this, and it will be good. Don’t complain that you bought a hotdog and it was bad, when you’re an idiot buying a hotdog at one of the best seafood restaurants on the Oregon Coast.
Secondly, most of the money it makes is off tourists during the tourist season. This means it has high prices to compensate for the slow Winter/Fall (Which, is ironically the ideal season for Pacific seafood and the only time of year I go here.) So the seafood is well worth the price, assuming you have the taste to appreciate it. And I reiterate, if you are an idiot buying a hotdog that is only on the menu to cater to the children of rich tourists, don’t complain when it is $9.
Lastly, and this one is tied into the previous point, it is going to be busy during tourist season (Spring/Summer). If you are a tourist here visiting in the hight of summer, it really should not be a surprise when you have to wait an hour or two, or can’t get window seating. Many people living on the Oregon coast believe the stereotype that tourists are rude and impatient and generally obnoxious, please do not prove us right. And, perhaps, the staff can sometimes give people who are obviously tourists the cold shoulder because of this stereotype. That is probably immoral, but it’s the world we live in. Just be courteous and chances are good you won’t be put in that box.
Another small note: ask your server what fish is in season. This isn’t Reg Blobster, they only serve fresh caught fish. That means the quality of the fish is going to depend on what fish is currently in season. Another good indication is the specials, they’re often based upon what’s abundant on the...
Read moreIf I could give it 0 stars, I would!! We were on the coast and were meeting friends for dinner in the quaint town of Oceanside just a few miles from Tillamook.
The blonde woman who greeted us was sour from the moment we walked in the door. We got to the restaurant about 4:30 to enjoy the view and have an appetizer and drinks while we waited for our friends to arrive.
Well, the hostess/owner let us know in no uncertain terms that their policy is to not seat anyone until their entire party is there. We explained we would be eating/spending money and not just sitting there waiting. But We started to look on our phones for someplace else to go when She reluctantly agreed to seat us. Keep in mind this is a Thursday, 4:30pm in May and there are only two tables with anyone at them.
Once we got seated, it took FOREVER to get waited on and we had to chase a waitress down EVERY time we needed something. Not Once did she voluntarily check on us. Our friends came, we ate, the food was expensive and just "meh", and the whole experience was marred by the rude greeting and the terrible service.
You can forgive average, over-priced food if the service is exceptional, but at this place it was the opposite of exceptional! We...
Read moreGreat location, right above the beach, so you could see the ocean. Which we tried, being from out of town. Tables near windows were occupied, so we asked waitress to give us seats near windows, in case something will be available, because we see people getting checks. And we got an explanation that no one is going, and they are switching to dinner menu (?) We've been given 3 (three) minutes to make a choice in lunch menu, because kitchen was "switching menus". To answer what sides will be with main dishes in case we choose dinner menu - she didn't know because kitchen is not set up yet. One dish from lunch and one dish from dinner menu also was impossible to order. Later on, we asked again, watching an empty table near window. And again we've been given weird explanation about people that already asked for tables for dinner. To my question about how type of menu is related to location of the table waitress seemed to be pretty annoyed. So we stopped with the questions and enjoyed the food, sitting in the middle of the restaurant, eventually surrounded by empty tables near walls and windows. Great food,...
