My wife and I were out looking for a restaurant for breakfast in Friday morning, 9/13, and found the Ashford House. We both ordered pancakes, eggs and sausage. The waitress was very pleasant and the food came out quickly. We both were hungry and dug into the food. We were both shocked as the pancakes tasted, "doughy." The waitress came back around and asked "how was the meal?" I told her I did not like it and she said she would locate the manager. A man came out, and without greeting us, asked what was wrong. I told him I did not like the food and my wife commented that the pancakes were "doughy." Typically, when I've experienced something similar at other restaurants, the manager would apologize and offer a refund. Not in this case. Instead, the man (not sure if he was the owner or manager) got upset, stated that he's been making pancakes for a number of years and never had a complaint. He told the waitress to take one of the meals off of the bill and stormed off as if we offended him. Sure, the food was bad, but the service was 10x worse. Needless to say, we will never, ever visit this place again and I assume this man never visited a restaurant where he disagreed with the food. Shame on the Ashford House for the way my wife and I were...
Read moreMy husband & I visited this restaurant and was sadden by the food and service. The pancakes were doughy and too thick. The eggs were crunchy, well done don’t mean crispy. The hash browns had no tasty/no seasoning. The sausages were squishy as if they weren’t real meat and the orange juice was not freshly squeezed, it was nasty. The waitress was very nice. She went looking for the manager but I think the cook came out. He asked what was wrong with the food. I was hesitant to respond but I did. I told him the pancakes were doughy. He cut me off in a rage & told the waitress to take one of the meals off. He was screaming very loud in the back where the kitchen was saying, “he’s been making pancakes for 40 years, and has never been told his food was not good”. No matter the outcome in a business, you are never supposed to behave in that manner with customers. Save your comments at closing when there aren’t any customers in your establishment. Needless to say, we will never eat there again. The cook needs to contact Gordon Ramsay for restaurant tips & to help make his food taste better. I am sure we aren’t the only people that has complained in his “40 years of making pancakes”. Gordon Ramsey’s show is called, “Kitchen Nightmares” Give...
Read moreThe Ashford House is a favorite of mine. Took a friend visiting from Washington State to this restaurant this past Fall of 2017. I have dined here with other friends several times. It is a lovely place with great food, especially if one has been to Ireland or hails from the Emerald Isles. Even if you've never visited "across the Pond", you will enjoy this food and ambiance. Great Irish breakfasts!
It is relatively expensive for evening (dinner fare), but worth the cost. The steaks are wonderful. I chose the Queen cut plate which, if memory serves me, was wonderful. This contained a Porter House steak grilled to perfection, along with a generous piece of Prime Rib done medium-rare; exactly how I like it. It came with delicious Irish mashed potatoes filled with chopped scallions and garlic, and a side of the best roasted carrots I have ever tasted.
An extensive wine list was a wonderful surprise. My dinner partner and I selected (with a little help from our attentive waitress) exactly the perfect pairing for our meal. We spent almost 3 hours there on a cool Fall night. Check out Ashford House's menu on their web site. Whatever time of day or night you choose to eat there, there is something for everyone....
