This was a great little bar. Especially for the neighborhood to get some food and drinks close to home. Great prices and service. Sam is phenomenal so make sure you ask for her your next visit. Everyone I know goes to this bar. About a few months ago people started saying the service and food wasn't the same and when they spoke to the owner she seems to disregard them and simply didn't care. We tried different days and hours and would get different bartenders than Sam. (Bad results everytime) The last time we got together there for taco Tuesday (we thought Sam quit but found out she was still there unfortunately she was getting off at dinner time) we waited an hour before asking for an update on our other. The bartender was rude saying "Everyone has to wait not just you!" We came before a party of 6 and they were served and we still waited. The bartender never came to let us know they were backed up or anything. So w nicely asked again, never raised our voice or used foul language. She told us 15 mins so we waited 25 more which now it's been 1.5 hours so we asked for a refund and she turned nasty. She then told us with a nasty attitude we couldn't ever return there as if that was even an option. She raised her voice at us bc we told her we couldn't wait any longer. She turned and told the whole bar something and they all stared confused. We paid for our drinks and was ready to walk out. She was confratational and kept our change so when we asked for it she started laughing, mocked how my husband asked, called us broke because we didn't leave an extra tip which she got prior bc we had 3 rounds of drinks. We left. My friend grew up in Tinley and LOVE the cottage. They were so shocked how we were treated that they never want to return. I'm so sad because it's hard finding a good go to place. Hopefully things change for the better and Good luck to the owner. No hard feelings on anyone of us, but we don't want to spend money in a place with that type of...
Read moreI ordered an Italian sausage sandwich today. What was served was definitely a sausage; I suspect Polish. I asked the waitress how many different sausage meats are offered on the menu as mine did not appear or taste like Italian. (My dining partner sampled a bite and agreed - not Italian). She said they offer hot dogs, Italian and Polish sausage. I said that the sandwich I was served was likely Polish. She checked the kictchen and returned to say, the cook, "was sure the package said "Italian." She asked if everything was alright. I answered that, other than not having the correct sandwich, I guess; okay. She said, "Good." I did eat some potato chips and ordered a bag of peanuts while my friend finished his Italian beef sandwich (which , I was told, was very good. That's the reason for the second star). When we were finished, I asked for the check and I was given a bill, in full, for both sandwiches, drinks AND the peanuts. Nothing comped - no apology. Next time maybe Burger King instead. They don't serve alcohol but at least I'll...
Read moreAs a resident of TP for years, I have been a customer of many restaurants and businesses in town! Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to visit The Cottage Bar and Grill yet. Why 5 stars you might ask yourself? While viewing their website, I saw that every Thursday they would have my favorite, Sloppy Joe sandwich!! It was after 10pm so I phoned first! The very friendly voice on the other end was extremely helpful, polite and apologetic as the kitchen closes at 10pm. She was so excited to tell me about the daily specials and encouraged me to come in between noon and 10pm! That kind of hospitality you just don’t get much anymore so Thank You to the friendly lady who answered my call. I will definitely be in for a meal, especially next Thursday! Signed, A Grateful...
