Based off of great reviews about food and service my fiancé and I decided to try Chen’s for the first time. Unfortunately our experience didn’t match the reviews. We sat looking at the menu for 15 minutes, unsure what to order since there were so many different options… In those 15 minutes the server approached us 5 times asking if we were ready. The 5th time she told us “are you ready because the time is running out.” I was completely confused as to what this meant as it was 2pm, there was only one other table in the restaurant and no sign about a time limit. While taking our order the server seemed to have minimal knowledge of the menu. She questioned us and seemed clueless as we told her the names and numbers of our entrees, even though I was pointing to each item in the menu while ordering. She seemed extremely confused when we asked for a simple fried rice upgrade and to add vegetables to a dish(which were both options on the menu). I could tell she didn’t understand and wanted to clarify that she had our orders correct, and she said “no that’s different then you said”. She ran to the kitchen and SCREAMED for a minute. Right before the food came I asked for a coke for my fiancé, and she literally rolled her eyes. My fiancé enjoyed his Four Seasons, and fried rice. My Imperial Beef Tenderloin sauce and vegetables were delicious, but the meat was completely rare. I’m pregnant so I could not eat the meat at all, and my fiancé who’s a chef would not even touch the meat. We were so uncomfortable and felt like such a bother, I decided to just eat rice rather than say anything about the meat. As a manager at a restaurant and a chef at another, we only get one day off to enjoy food together outside our workplaces. It is unfortunate to have that day ruined by an...
Read moreChens used to be a great Chinese food restaurant. The last 3 times we ordered from chens our food was not so good and lacking. The orange chicken was covered in sweet sour sauce and not the normal orange chicken. Sauce. I'm assumed it was because I asked for it to be mild. However the next time I didn't and it was the same. I then tried the sesame chicken and received the same sauce. The other dishes were lacking meat and or vegetables. And we did not receive the usual rice per dish. Also upon pick up the cashier makes a point to check for a tip and make you real uncomfortable when there isn't one... it's pick up not dine in or delivery, therefore I do not tip and a tip should not be expected on pick up orders. The cooks are paid to cook, the cashier is paid to hand you a bag and ring up your total.
I really do hope chens fixes these issues. Until then I won't be back...
Read moreTheir food just tastes clean. I don’t know where they source their seafood and vegetables. Their food simply tastes good. I’ve yet to be served an unflattering meal. The day that I’m served something that I don’t like, I’ll be taken for a loop. I have always had great food from Chen’s. The standout? It’s fresh and clean tasting: that’s their key. It’s never salty or over the top. It’s seasoned balanced and well. The food is always piping hot: just as I like it. It’s never cold or lukewarm. The service is friendly, kind and courteous. Today, for lunch, I had their Three Treasure: it’s chicken, Shinto and scallops over vegetables. I’d never had that meal, but I wasn’t afraid to try it because they’ve never made a bad meal for me. You must try the Three Treasure: superb! The sauce is...
