I’ve been to Happy Bites just a handful of times. Each time we had a large wait for even just one order, which is understandable but not when it’s slow.
Today I stopped in to and got a chicken sandwich and fried pickles. The person taking my order said “the chicken sandwich comes with fries. Did you still want the fries or did you want to switch it out for the fried pickles” I agreed to switch it out for the fried pickles but what he didn’t tell me is that I would be charged nearly full price for the fried pickles. The sandwich is $6.99 and the fried pickles were $4.24, normally the fried pickles are $4.99 as their menu states. I understand there should be an up-charge for fried pickles but the up charge shouldn’t be only 75¢ less than full price. I could have kept my fries and saved them for later for only 75¢ more.
I called them back because I was confused and they immediately started to argue with me. I’m not one to call back and complain, I avoid unnecessary phone calls and I have worked in food service so I understand being on the other end of this situation. I was shocked at how rude they were and how quick they were to argue with me. I was told I cannot be refunded or anything for my fried pickles. A simple “oh I’m sorry about the confusion on that. Can we take your name down and the next time you come in a small fry is on us” would have sufficed. Instead they chose to argue, so I choose to review.
Other than that, don’t get the chicken sandwich. The meat is spongy- like a McNugget. Even worse imo. I would have gone to McDonald’s if I wanted a spongy piece of chicken. I took three bites and had to throw it out.
The fried pickles are great though. Today was my fourth time ordering them, they also forgot the sauce that they normally give with the fried pickles. Still good but kinda sad with this situation as I won’t go to Happt Bites again nor will I recommend...
Read moreAmidst the struggles of owning a small business this past year, husband and wife team Kunal and Rutva Patel bravely took over ownership of Tinley Park’s Happy Bites Burger and Wings as well as its attached partner restaurant, The California Way, this past September. Happy Bites Burger and Wings and The California Way share an entrance and dining area together yet they offer two different menu styles and counters for placing your orders.
Happy Bites Burger and Wings offers quite a creative selection when it comes to their fresh, made to order burgers. A favorite amongst regulars and a great suggestion by Rutva was The Nectar of the Gods Burger. This burger hits you with a surplus of flavors, kicking things off with a generous helping of melted provolone cheese blanketing a juicy, freshly made patty. Next in line comes a crispy layer of onion fries paired with some thick slices of applewood smoked bacon, which really gives this burger some texture. Topping off this masterpiece is a spread of Happy Bites homemade secret recipe of garlic and chive aioli sauce. This turned out to be quite a tasty combination of flavors leaving me with much anticipation to dive into another one of Happy Bites original creations.
Turning my appetite to the California Way, I was torn as my eyes scanned through a list of mouth watering sandwiches, wraps and tasty salads. The California Club fit the bill with a team of black forest ham, smoked turkey and bacon to kick things off on the protein side of this beauty. No club sandwich is complete without fresh lettuce and tomato against some warm melted cheddar cheese but The California Way also adds another homemade recipe of their green goddess sauce to bring this sandwich to a close. The California Club is sure to be a crowd pleaser for any club...
Read moreI had a weird experience there. They nickel and dimed me for ranch, forgot a small drink, and then claimed I didn't get a drink with my meal. Upon realizing their error, they gave me the drink later... All good, all I'm saying is that small ass ranch ain't good enough for 10 tenders. Up your game on that. The food was dope though. I had the Nashville Hot chicken wing meal. (that did in fact, come with a drink) wings were crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Sauce was more of a play on Nashville Hot. not as spicy as the O.G., and still made me sweat. I ordered Cajon seasoning on my fries, however, to my dismay, either I didn't say it loud enough or they just didn't hear it and missed that part of the order. Fortunately, I also got the aforementioned 10 tenders (without nearly enough ranch) meal, and ordered the Cajon seasoning on those fries as well. They followed through on that, and they were superb! Solid tenders as well. Great breading succulant 🐔 Mac and cheese bites were on point...... but, the 🌟 of the show for me was the fried pickles. A friend ordered them and I got to partake. To my delight. If you like fried pickles, please, do yourself a favor,...
